All news agencies say Alito's confirmation guaranteed...
...with democrats vowing absolutely, positively, cross their hearts hope to die, NOT to filibuster, no sir! Thanks anyway boys for only stalling, not stopping those evil republicans from taking away all our civil liberties and for flushing millions of tax payer dollars that was spent on these hearings down the toilet. Must be a lot of fund raising parties and lobbyists to get to in Washington, DC at the start of the year. No time for doing their jobs and especially no time for silly filibusters.

Anybody surprised? Just another dog and pony show in Washington, DC? They got more tricks to show us? Anybody going third party next election?

Our democratic leaders keep saying they're protecting us from those evil republicans but does anybody else see it? I sure don't. They rolled over for two stolen elections, they rolled over for a fake war, and again they have rolled over for two right wing judges, so I ask, what did we get out of our democratic leaders this past six years that I'm missing???

Shit...the republicans fought harder against Harriet Myers than the dems did on Alito.

4. No doubt that all the news agencies have been INSTRUCTED to say
that Alitio's confirmation guaranteed. It's called a pre-emptive strike. Don't believe the hype.

5. Perception Management
Remember, the "media" is on their side, not ours. I wouldn't trust a word they say, and I also don't expect Harry Reid to reveal his cards yet. Patience, grasshopper.

8. Yes, all of those RW, corporatista news outlets
The same ones that sat on the NSA spying story for over a year to help Bushboy's re-election? The same ones that, when the scandals start erupting, always seem to have a pretty blond girl in distress story handy to drown out everything else? The same ones that beat the drum for an illegal, immoral war?

Why do believe anything that they say? Why not go straight to the donkey's mouth so to speak, and find out what the actual Democrats are saying? I think that if you would do so, you would find that no Democrat is ruling out anything, and they're all keeping pretty mum on the whole thing.

This is just more noise in the echo chamber friend, useless noise to please the RW idiots. Don't believe it, wait and see for yourself. There will be plenty of time to get outraged when we know for sure.

11. The "not as bad" party is rolling over again. Polticis as usual.
Instead of filibuster, we'll get excuses and rationales and platitudes about preserving the filibuster for future use against something "important". Some will vote "no", to no effect, to satisfy the left's disgust with their uselessness.

As long as we allow "politics as usual" that's exactly what we'll get.

13. I think next time, next stolen election we can say...
...intead of "rolling over", we can say, "they bent over and grabbed their ankles".

12. Gee, what do you expect the whores to say?
Have they EVER done anything other than play cheerleader (or cover-up) for the far right?

The Dems have an opportunity here to strike at both their abusers in the media AND the far right.

Will they get assertive? or act like battered women and forfiet the 2006 elections. Stay tuned- just NOT to anything you see on American TV or in the corporate newspapers.

14. that's the media's role here . . . to set the expectations . . .
to ensure that the Democrats won't bother to oppose the nomination in any meaningful way . . . they're just doing BushCo's bidding -- which is what a house organ is supposed to do . . .
