So, Is the Jesse Macbeth story true or not ?
Has there been a consensus around here.

Is that story by the Army Ranger soldier true?

1. I think the consensus is that hes not even a ranger.
He apparently has resigned from IVAW and they are investigating

2. Not sure theres even a record of him being in the Army.
From what i've seen on this, he would have had to be 16 when he enlisted.

This story needs to be buried under a large pile of rocks and forgotten.

6. We need to make sure this doesn't become the Bush Nat'l Guard story.
There was no question Bush skipped National Guard service, but the Right Wing buried the story by creating a strawman -- two documents out of at least 100 -- whose origins could not be confirmed.

So THE REAL STORY -- THE FACT THAT BUSH SKIPPED NATIONAL GUARD SERVICE -- WAS BURIED.

In this case, there is evidence being compiled by military prosecutors that atrocities and crimes were being commited by some U.S. troops.

The fact that ONE PERSON lies about who or where he was DOESN'T CHANGE WHAT OTHERS HAVE DONE OR ARE DOING.

3. Not true, but there are a few that keep kicking these topics
Edited on Thu May-25-06 08:45 AM by DTinAZ
All of the websites involved have either removed the information or have disclaimers about investigating the situation. The former profile on Military.com has been removed. Although a final explanation may never appear, it seems that this was a case of a story put out prematurely by people who should have done some better fact checking first.

4. IVAW Statement

IVAW Statement on MacBeth Video

Iraq Veterans Against the War recently learned of a video interview with Jesse MacBeth that directs viewers to IVAW’s website and phone number. IVAW was not made aware of the creation of this video program and our input on it was never sought by its producers. Jesse MacBeth is not a spokesperson for IVAW and any claims made by MacBeth about his service have not been verified. We are currently investigating these claims and will have a full statement pending its resolution.

8. Those are not American Troops...
so it is hard to tell if they are real or not. They appear to be part of a peacekeeping force.
