List examples of Liberals speaking & acting from their values. |
|
I'm working on a blog entry listing examples of Liberals speaking and acting from their values.
I've got a few, mainly from the Civil Rights movement, but I'm curious if you can think of any.

1. Everyone acts from their values. |
|
Some values (like BushCo) are the values of empire, eliteism, and hubris, however.

6. This quote is a good example of how liberals value the troops |
|
"Supporting the troops means paying attention to their needs both in the field and at home. It means understanding their lives both as warriors fighting for our nation, and as husbands and wives, parents, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters struggling to take care of their families."
'War should only be a LAST resort."
In almost every defense budget of the last 30 years you will see how the more liberal lawmakers add funds and measures that value the lives of those in service through financial security for their families to healthcare to better armor and protective gear,
The Republicans pad the budget for their defense industry executives with little concern for the actual serviceman and woman.
I thought I'd add this aspect since it probably wouldn't get covered.

twisting arms to get Civil Rights passed in the first place, even though he knew (and said) it would lose the South for the Dems for a generation.
Reminds me of Gov. Riley of Alabama, who of course is a Republican and certainly no liberal, who tried to convince the voters to pass a tax reform measure with some seriously progressive elements, using the actual words of Jesus to sell it. And of course all the usual Repuke establishment fought against it and it failed. That's actually the most prominent example I know of what you're looking for that's happened in the 21st century, and it plainly sucks that it came from the other camp.
