Nice sounding words. A pleasing, honorable and elating ring to them. It is a pity that they no longer apply to the United States of America. Perhaps a better version would be
Land of the Fearful, and Homeland Security is watching YOU!

If we count up just how many times the alert level was raised, just as bad news was breaking for the White House, I think even political junkies would be shocked at the "coincidence" of it all. Others have considered that issue and even wrote poetically about its existence, but all that happened as a result is that the White House shifted tactics. They found three other ways to scare and control American thought processes: Bird Flu, Iran, and this nebulous "war on terror" - something that by definition can never be won, therefore it will conveniently last forever, expanding the Executive power beyond all recognition. Our founding fathers are turning in their graves.
They would spit at today's American Character, a spineless, fear-filled, gullible critter who mouths hypocricies and talking points on command, and allows the remaining tattered bits of our constitution be stomped on, pissed on, shat upon and destroyed - because giving up a little freedom in the name of security is a goood deal.

We now have paid off journalists, planted news stories, Judith Millers, Elizabeth Bumillers, Jeff Gannons, George Wills, and many more traitors to their profession. Their job used to be to investigate and keep our government under observation and under control. Now, they are enablers, co-conspiritors and ultimately, drinkers of Kool-aid in such massive amounts that they have lost all touch with reality. Between corporate ownership, Faux Gnusism, and bribed reporters, the fourth estate is bankrupt and no longer worth saving. Recent polls show that 90% of Americans agree with this sad diagnosis. Will it drive them to change and correct their path? Sure, as soon as you see a story critical about GE's polution problems on NBC. In other words, about the same time that Dick Cheney will admit that he has corrupted the heart and soul of our government.

We have spinmeisters playing the terror card. We have pols afraid to stand up to Big Brother for fear of being labelled soft on terror. We have Democrats supporting an immoral, improper and unfounded invasion of Iraq, and coming close to rolling over and playing dead for the upcoming repeat performance in Iran. It isn't that they have no shame - that is a given. One problem is that they simply have been hogtied by the Administration. THey simply do not get the threat to our society. Or if they do, they are too scared to do their sworn duty. Another problem is that they rely too much on political consultants and demographic PR companies which have no understanding nor consideration for the principles and history of our country.

TO fully understand just how grave the threat is, consider the construction of many huge concentration camps across the country. Why are they there? Who will fill those cells and buildings? And why? The answer is obvious, if you connect all the dots and see how power-hungry and corrupt this government is. The answer is staring us in the face, yet most Americans sit and take it as though it is all OK.

Our founding fathers would look at the state of the Democratic party and vomit. They would look at the GOP and wonder how such a vile, anti-American enemy managed to infiltrate our borders. They would look at the current state of the American people and cry in shame. We, the people, we Americans, we free and democratic-loving citizens are no longer the beacon of hope, nor a shining example of what is good, nor an example of the greatness that humanity is capable of achieving. We are a failed country, a failed people and a failure to our children. It is all of our fault.

Now, to make things worse, the Administration is beginning a new front in its war. This time its target is Congress, just as a brave few decide to stand up to its many excesses. Do not ignore the veiled threat against Denny Hastert in today's and yesterday's news stories. Do not ignore the attack on congressional independence by way of FBI searches of Cong. Jefferson or their treatment of Cong. McKinney. And do not forget that with illegal domestic spying, not only journalists, but our very representatives are probably also suffering the same fate - THEY ARE BEING SPIED UPON. Let those words sink in for a moment. OUR REPRESENTATIVES ARE BEING SPIED UPON. And so are you. Even in the worst moments of the Cold War, during the excesses of McCarthyism, we never had such infringments of rights or curtailing of constitutional protections. Never. This is no longer the land of the free, annd certainly no longer the home of the brave.

The way this administration played on the fears, the doubts and the ignorance of Americans was a thing of beauty. When a new society is reformed from the ashes of our fallen state, they will look to this period of time and shake their heads. "They did it to themselves. They allowed a group of evil fascists to take control, and grab more power until the very core of the country was destroyed. Why?" WE don't have an answer for them now; it might be too late for us, even if we did see a way out.

The only way to survive this attack on our culture, our freedoms and our country is to follow the advice of Alexander Hamilton. He predicted that the only way we could survive and thrive was to have a form of revolution every generation or so. Ours is overdue. Pity that such words will probably get us thrown in jail soon.

To hell with Ashcroft, Gonzales, the FBI, the NSA, the Administration and all the individuals who have destroyed my country. To hell with them, I say. It is time for a revolution. For without one, our country will be lost.
