Swift Justice? Not for the Poor; Certainly not for the Rich! 4 long years
ago, I wrote this poem, after several of my Houston friends were personally affected themselves, or knew of others who had lost not only their jobs, but their lifetime savings.
February 5, 2002

DELAY LAY; UNTIL YOUR POCKETS GROW
(LIE LOW, LAY)

Delay, delay, delay Lay
Even as your profits grow
Delay, delay, delay Lay
Until you too, lie low

Lay, laws are due to men like you
To protect the innocent
Let the foxes out of their holes
To reveal the source of the scent

Lay, laid, laying, lying
All your employees for years
Have been trying
to perform your goals
With sweat and tears

Lie, lied, lying, dying
We hoped your conscience would be frying
Instead you send your wife crying
Her woes, woes, woes
So life goes-- So life goes

My darling, my wife, my bride
Let us not tell them where we hide
The poppy seeds, row after row
That mark the place of disgrace

Oh captain, captain of corporate greed
You jumped off your sinking ship
And let your people slip
Never concerned with their need

While you take the fifth
To hide your millions
Don’t you know that
We have trillions of eyes
To disclose your lies?

Sinking ship, stinking rat
You must make it tit for tat
And give back all of that
To which you gave the beaurocrats

Delay, delay, delay Lay
While your pockets grow
While your profits grow
Delay, delay, delay Lay
Until you too, lie low

2. Very nice poem, and sad at the same time...
All those people that lost their life savings... whether they were employees or investors... And these crooks will probably still be sitting on millions of dollars when they get out...

7. I was crying as I wrote it, thinking about the poor people that lost
everything because of corporate greed and arrogance. There are elements of "Oh Captain, My Captain", "In Flanders Fields", and one other poem, Can't remember which, now, in this.

4. I live in Houston
and I can tell you the people are happy about this, but it can't replace all that has been lost and everyone who has been affected.. The whole city feels the pain and we grieve with them and rejoice in this verdict.

5. My parents and very good friends are in Houston. My heart is in
Houston. I love the city, and I am so happy that some justice was done today. Personally I wish they would spend the rest of their life in jail!

6. One reporter said at Ken Lay's age
they think he will get 25-30 years...If shrub does not pardon him, Lay will spend the rest of his life in jail....

9. I heard that too, but also heard that because of the way the judges are
established in Texas, that it might be overturned? I don't know about the legal aspects (where is my atty. sister when I need her?). Another point of confusion for me is why they were sent away in handcuffs, but are to spend time at home until the punishment phase? Or are they handcuffed until they post bond/bail?

14. Certainly a different justice for the ultra rich and greedy, and it would
appear a different God! But appearances are not always trustworthy.
