The Washington Post Hints That Clinton Has a Girlfriend
The Washington Post today follows up the Times frontpager on the Clinton marriage with a column by veteran political commentator David Broder, titled "The Shadow of a Marriage," in which Broder hints that Bill Clinton has a girlfriend. Broder says that the character of the Clinton marriage is the "elephant in the room" with Senator Clinton—and thus, fair game in the political process.

I smell distraction tactics. I would have thought better of David Broder, though.

3. Well, she must be a patient one, then
I doubt she travels with him hither and yon, and seeing as he travels on speaking and humanitarian engagements, and spends more time with the Missus than some of these poor deployed bastards, or even flight attendants, she must only want to rip off a piece every third or fourth weekend, if she's lucky.

Hey, if no one wants to talk about Newt "I bed three wives" Gingrich, they shouldn't worry about what a couple that stays married does. It ain't nobody's business but their own.

27. I think that's probably the safest marriage in America, truly
Whatever accomodations they may, or may not have, come to. You see these relationships in Europe all the time. If Bill is horsing around, one hopes he either restricts his hijinks to the post-childbearing ladies, or got ye olde vasectomy; as that's the only matter that could cause a difficulty.

As for those who sit and wait, that's actually rather sad. Sometimes, the thing you waited for turns out to be nothing but crap--like Ralphie and his Ovaltine decoder in "A Christmas Story." It brings to mind Happy Rockefeller, who left her husband and five kids for Nelson, only to find out many years later that he hadn't changed his spots at all, and died in the saddle with a young woman who ran, frantically, out of the townhome Nelson had bought for her in her negligee and fur coat! What goes around does tend to come around....her compensation was a good chunk of his fortune, but all her friends knew how he departed this mortal coil.

11. For his entire term in the White House, old Bush had another woman.
All the press knew who she was but never discussed it or revealed her identity. She was very well known in Washington and very visible but it was hush hush and nobody talked about her or her relationship with the prez. Her name was revealed after he left office but it sill is not spoken of much today.

Then there is Condi with her own room at the ranch.

Let's not talk about the Clintons. Whatever happens in their marriage is their business just as it evidently was for all the repugs.

She bears not a small resemblance to Babs, actually. Large, with football shoulders, a face like George Washington. Apparently, GHWB goes for a certain type. The difference? Where Babs hectored and criticized, Jenifer fawned, praised and worshipped. Here she is--no femme fatale, she:

24. Celebrity sex sells. How long before the "specials" appear on the MSM?
All those "investigative reporters", with pearly white teeth and hair transplants, are wetting themselves in anticipation of "Sex in the White House", "Political Power and Sex", "The ex-President Syndrome", and similar drivel to tittilate the gullible public into buying new cars and toothpaste.

In other news: Approximately, 600,000 children under 5 years of age will die of Malaria in The Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Bill Clinton and his penis. Hillary may as well hang up her bid for the WH because the wacko right will never stop with this shit and if she runs, it will only get worse. The repukes probably have hundreds of investigators out there digging up dirt already. I'm sure Richard Melon Scaife is at it again. If the Democrats were smart, which they AREN'T, they would tell Hill to just pass on the WH in '08.

34. What a snarky article and typical of Broder
The Clinton marriage is an issue because the media chooses to report about it on the front page and discuss it. That's essentially his reasoning. He wants the media to define the issues. Then he goes on to subtly criticize her for knowing issues and actually having facts and a plan. But, but...the Democrats have no plan. No wonder only 11 percent approve of the media. Broder is considered a dean of the washington press insider club. Get out of the bubble, Broder. You're irrelevant and you're not so hidden agenda to support Reps is obvious.

39. This is between them
and if and when she decides to run for President, it will be up to her of whether and when to bring this issue up front.

Funny, in 1992 she did not want to be considered as someone who "stands by her man" and yet she did, while Dole, and Pete Wilson, and Phil Gramm, and Newt Gingrich and the other patsy who held Newt post for a day... all dumped their first wives for a newer model.

And these are just Republican Presidentail wannabe that I can think off. What about all the rest of them?

44. I thought the one image of the NYT piece was a riot
Bill and Hillary mapping out her WH run, and the BC sneaking out of the room to give Gore some pointers too, he just couldn't help himself.

From the NYT piece it seemed to me as if the Clintons are comfortable with their relationship, which is all that matters.

Of course Broder didn't point out that 12 other people were at the dinner with Bill and the Canadian lady but why should a silly thing like the truth interfere with salicious innuendo?

Why do they live a lie? Why not just get a divorce?!

It is apparent from their behavior that they both lack integrity and it is obvious that both Bill and Hillary will sell their souls to get ALL the power, prestige and money they could ever possibly want. Just look at how Bill has cozied up to the Bush Sr. and how Hillary has cozied up to Rupert Murdoch. Ugh. :puke: Oh yeah, Bill and Hillary aren't the only ones that do this crap-don't even get me started on the Bushes!!! :grr: :grr: :grr:
