Senate Will Soon Vote to Repeal the Estate Tax
I have mentioned this to some of you before and I posted about this in the activist board, but wanted to spread the word to everyone ASAP about this planned vote. Thanks.

I'm working with Coalition for America's Priorities, http://www.coalition4americaspriorities.com/, to let everyone know that Senator Frist plans to have the Senate vote on legislation to repeal the estate tax the week of June 6th. According to a May 23rd article in the Capital Hill newspaper, Roll Call;

"With this week’s calendar clearly full, sources acknowledge that some other matters may have to wait until Members return to work early next month. June also promises a full agenda for the Senate, as GOP leaders have vowed to bring up a series of hot-button issues such as the gay marriage amendment, an anti-flag burning measure and estate tax legislation."

http://www.rollcall.com/issues/51_127/roadmap/13486-1.h...

It is extremely irresponsible for Senator Frist and the Republicans to even debate this giveaway to the wealthiest segment of Americans when we are at war, running huge deficits and rebuilding New Orleans, just to name a few priorities. Repealing the estate tax would cost $75 billion a year in federal revenue and over a trillion dollars overall. In addition, fewer than 2% of Americans have to pay the estate tax.

Please take action and contact your Senators to let them know where you stand. There are great resources to use at the Coalition's website and you can contact your Senators using this link. If anyone needs more information or resources, please let me know. Thanks.

3. More good news for Dems!
Republicans just can't stop themselves. $75 billion to the top two percent?

Even money-grub Repub *Ben Stein* has been decrying the excess of avarice in print.

Thank you Bill Frist!

4. It is the goal of wealthy Republicans to never pay taxes again. Ever
for anything.

They might even find a way to get out of paying sales tax, if they could.

They want to leech off of the working class.

Hell, they already do.

They just want to leech even more.

Those without access to credit must bear the entire load.

6. You mean the "Paris Hilton Relief Act of 2006"?
Listen Boys & Girls: Nobody pays a nickle in federal estate taxes unless their net (not gross) estate exceeds $2,000,000.00.

This is another giveaway to the Super-rich.

Dems believe in equal opportunity...GOPers believe in dynasties for themselves and their aristocratic cronies.

7. I've called my Senators' offices to voice my opposition!
Of course I have Kyl and McCain, so I'm sure it doesn't matter that I called, but I did anyway.

GO PEDERSON FOR SENATE!

As you said, I don't think you will have much luck, especially since it's Kyl's bill that the Senate will vote on S.420. Apparently he and Dr. Frist feel this there won't be anything important going on in June so they can debate the merits of losing $1 trillion in revenue and giving more back to the wealthiest among us.

Here are some Facts to address the many myths out there about the estate tax.

15. The Republicans want a permanent ruling class.
This comes right from the teachings of Leo Strauss. He believed the strong should rule over the weak. He believed a small cadre of wealthy people should possess all the power and knowledge, and that the rest of us should only get what that ruling elite feel like giving to them. Strauss and his followers, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle, Libby, and others are no friends of the liberal democracies. They see autocratic rule as preferable to our democratic rule.
