I absolutely HATE The Today Show--Russert and Lauer usual whore fest
About how Democrats didn't make any headway in stopping Alito from confirmation and then they had to resort to things like the Princeton issue, ect. And how the big photo-op is how the big bad Dems (even though it was a Republican Senator who was speaking) made poor Mrs. Alito cry.

They must be on the RNC payroll, wait they work for GE, so I'm sure they are.

2. Haven't watched the Today Show in 15 years
Edited on Fri Jan-13-06 09:58 AM by hatrack
Celebrity gossip, diets, heroic recovery-from-addiction tales, relentlessly perky bullshit with just enough of a dollop of "news" on top of the whole fly-blown souffle to give it a thin, if slimy veneer of "journalism" - and that was 15 years ago. I can't imagine the depths to which it's descended by now - does Hell have a Tenth Circle?

If you wanted to get people to understand "Narcissistic Personality Disorder" in practical terms, I'd use that program. But then, they'd probably really enjoy Perky Katie Couric and Jolly Matt Lauer, and become regulars. :puke:

There are about 10,000 better ways to use your time - polishing silverware, cataloging your shoe collection by date purchased and waxing individual blades of grass come to mind.

3. They are whores but they're not wrong...
It's not inaccurate reporting to say that the dems didn't make any headway, or that the crying was the big phot op. Both of those are true statements.

But what's also true is that both of those things happened because of the goddamned media themselves portraying things that way. The dems didn't make any headway because everything they did or said was filtered through GOP talking points so there was no big "BAM" moment where people would have turned against them. And the carefully orchestrated crying moment WAS the big photo op because they all fell for it hook, line, and sinker and MADE it the story.

So they aren't lying with either of those statements, just leaving out that they MADE it that way.

with no anesthsia, to get a few root canals, and then drill a nail into my eye, by myself, and then slice my arm off, with a dull razor blade, than to watch the Today show.
