Just hung up on a rude March of Dimes caller........sheesh..... |
|
He first says, I'm not asking for money, just thanking you for your previous contribution. I said I'm sorry I just don't have any money to give....he says, in a terse voice, "I said I'm not asking for money mame".....I said thanks and hung up. Is it me or are they getting a lot pushier. :grr:

1. Sounds to me like the guy WAS NOT asking for money... |
|
Seems like you blew up on him for no reason -- based on what you have just posted here... I mean, the first words out of the guys mouth were, "I'm not asking for money, JUST thanking you..."

7. Well, may-be I was a bit hasty, but when I get their little envelope |
|
every month requesting a donation, I just thought they were trying a different tactic. I'll send something in the next envelope.

11. That's what it sounds like to me too, but... |
|
(a) Maybe we don't know the whole story, and
(b) To some degree, ANY coldcall from a charitable organization is reasonably viewed as a contribution call - no matter what they SAY.
But yah - with the description of the indicdent as given, it sounds a bit like pulling an elephant gun out on a fly...

2. IMHO you should call March of Dimes |
|
most charities now outsource fundraising. The telemarker either takes a cut before passing along or in on contract with the Charity. Letting the charity know their contractor leaves alot to be desired may help encourage them to change their contractor.
could also join me in demanding lawmakers add charities, churches and politicians to the "NO call list" law.

5. I've never gotten a call from the March of Dimes except to ask |
|
if I would be the fundraiser for my street. All of my requests for money have come from the resident on my street who raises money for them.

10. I'm on your side in this case. |
|
In my experience it's become common practice to start the conversation with the "thanks for past donations" spiel. The local firefighters do it here, as do the Special Olympics people.

13. unsolicited phone calls |
|
I'm fed up with them. Doesn't matter if its a charity or a survey, either. I have an unlisted, unpublished number, which is registered with the do-not-call list, AND I have privacy manager which blocks unknown and anonymous calls. And I always give out a fake number (123-456-7890 if I have to order something online and they "require" a phone number.) The damn thing still rings all day long. Drives me frickin crazy.
It's your phone - the caller was rude and intrusive, not you.
