2. I LOVE David Shuster!
I think he'd rather work for Keith O. than Tweety ... He's often on "Countdown" as well as "Spitball."

5. from my observations, Hardball has done WAY more w Plamegate than KO
Edited on Thu May-25-06 05:00 PM by emulatorloo
Matthews has featured Schuster's reporting a lot more than KO, and devoted entire shows to the CIA Leak Investigation, which as far as I know Countdown has never done.

9. Right.
Matthews has provided the very best Plame coverage in the corporate media. A significant asset is David Shuster's reporting. For Shuster, it is not an "either/or" choice with the two shows. To suggest otherwise indicates a lack of awareness of the amount of direction Matthews provides Shuster.

17. Don't forget, Matthews was the one who tipped off Wilson to Rover's
"Wilson's wife is fair game" statement.

Also, Libby's call to Big Tim around July 10, 11 July 2003 that he banked so much on, was to complain about Matthew's critcal comments on the war, if I recall correctly. As much as Matthews inexplicably gets enthralled by the sight of Bush in a flight suit, he was against the war as I recall.

Matthews is a strange one but his coverage of the Plame case has perhaps been the only continuing and significant coverage of the case on a network "news" program. Olberman does cover the matter, but I think it may be fair to say that Tweety's program takes the lead on Plamegate coverage, and not just at MSNBC.

13. MSNBC: Rove confirms Novak conversation; Fitzgerald turns toward Cheney
MSNBC: Rove confirms Novak conversation; Fitzgerald turns toward Cheney

RAW STORY
Published: Thursday May 25, 2006

In Hardball's daily dish on the CIA leak trial Thursday, MSNBC's David Shuster said the latest filings raise new questions about Vice President Cheney's potential role in the outing of a CIA agent, and that sources close to Karl Rove confirm that Rove did have a followup conversation about his calling conservative columnist Robert Novak. A report in the National Journal today suggests Novak considered 'covering' for Rove in the case.

Transcript follows.

CHRIS MATTHEWS, MSNBC ANCHOR: On Monday, Hardball correspondent David Shuster first reported the likelihood Vice President Cheney himself would be called as a witness stand by prosecutors in the CIA leak case against Scooter Libby. Last night, prosecutors filed a motion formally notifying Libby and the Court that Cheney may, in fact, be a prosecution witness. The new pre-trial documents underscore the central role of Vice President Cheney in his office's focus on an administration critic whose wife worked at the CIA and saw her cover status compromised. Here now is David Shuster.

14. David Schuster talks, and I notice he gets
almost nothing right. Yet, he talks and talks.

Guys with those jobs ought to be penalized big bucks when their "Karl Rove will be indicted shortly" stories, among others, don't pan out.

Schuster's a bore, like the rest of them

20. He's reporting on the court filings. What could he not get right about
that? In many of the previous court filings (reported accurately by Jason Leopold over the past several months and his reporting was ahead of the MSM btw) Cheney has been mentioned as the Grand Jury testimonly of several witnesses was revealed. I have found that both Leopold and Schuster reported on those filings accurately whenever I had a chance to read transcripts of the documents themselves.

If he got something wrong, could you explain what it was? It's possible, everyeone gets things wrong sometimes.

29. I'd like to see that question answered
Why would anyone dump on one of the few actually covering this important story beyond what the WH tells them to report?

That is very mysterious.

23. Not fair
This is not a fair assessment of Shuster's reporting, which for the most part has been quite good. It is true that he twice recently mentioned an expected indictment within "two weeks", but overall he has been good at getting out the factual details.

And why aren't you writing for the media if you know exactly how it should be done?

Nothing ever pans out for people with no patience.

Perhaps you can enlighten with some facts on your comment with regards to Schuster getting almost nothing right?

So, you made the assertion - now back it up. Show me what he's got.

See how smart I am and how you walked into that one?
