King George Visits Non-Damaged Parts of New Orleans, on way to fundraiser |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-13-06 10:44 AM by JPZenger
Rachel Maddow and Jerry Springer had good discussions this morning on Air America of King George's trip yesterday to New Orleans. The King was on his way to a big fundraiser, and on the way, he decided to stop into New Orleans for a photo opportunity. His motorcade purposefully avoided any of the devasted areas. Instead, he stopped in the upscale undamaged Garden District and said what great food there is New Orleans.
However, some of his happy talk was interupted by some girls from a local high school. They wore lifejackets, with "waterlevel" written on their foreheads. They also carried signs demanding that the President commit to improving the levee protection to withstand a Category 5 storm.
Springer stressed that people will not be willing to rebuild, and will not be able to get financing or insurance, until there is a commitment by the Feds for real storm protection. Air America also reported that 70% of the Small Business Administration loan requests from companies hurt by Katrina have been rejected.
