clean out your office because you could be next?

According to this article, Hastert's arguments are not as strong as DOJs. DOJ can raid congressional offices (that makes sense to me too, checks and balances should go both ways you'd think). It also says DOJ is very serious about this and will not back down.

Something is wrong with the picture. Hastert sticking up for Jefferson (yes, I know, because he's worried he'll be next but the law is not on his side) so he buys some time. He raises a stink and gets Bush to give him 45 days. No more raids until we decide what to do with the Jefferson stuff.

Here's my paranoid take: all the GOP scandals are brewing and some lifers at DOJ who might not be GOP say: "Let's raid Hastert's, Ney's etc office and get the evidence. We've certainly got probably cause." But the higher up policial GOP hacks don't want to eat their own so they authorize the unusual raid on Jefferson a dem. Meanwhile, Bush gives everyone 45 days to run the shreder and buy new hard drives.

Is my tin foil hat on too tight this week? Is there a better explaination for Hastert picking a fight with DOJ he should know he'll lose?

1. I think that this among other things are possibilities...
Hastert is protesting much to loudly...especially since it is a Democrat...

It makes me wonder what he has in his office that he doesn't want anyone to see...and then why is he that stupid to have it in his office if it is incriminating...

There may have been some issues with the DOJ and seperation of powers but the bottom line is these Congress, Senate and Administration people are not above the law....

2. So was something removed today
While everyone was running around looking for a gunman?

Would seem like a perfect opportunity not to raise any staff or media eyebrows.
