Update on my "Bush protest incident" printed in today's Yuma Sun

Today, an update was published in the Local Sun

Yuma Police are continuing to investigate an incident that involved the destruction of a sign being carried by a man protesting President George W. Bush's visit last week.

Darrell Keath, 67, of Yuma, is scheduled to appear in Yuma Municipal Court at 9:30 a.m. June 29 for a hearing on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and assault. But, as he has held all along, Keath says police have the wrong man.

The police report for the case says that shortly after the incident occurred, a YPD officer at the scene looked at video and still photos of the incident provided by a San Diego television station. The report also says that the officer then located one of three people seen in the video, and it was Keath.

Keath said Wednesday he spoke to the officer who arrested him. The officer said that copies of the picture or video evidence had not yet been received from the TV station. The report said that this evidence was supposed to be e-mailed to YPD May 19.

Because of the pending nature of things, I can't disclose very much more information on the case other than is already there. I am so far very confident of the criminal investigation. Just wanted to keep you all up-to-date per requests.

We were spit at twice last week as we held our regular weekly protest. So I am now taking my video camera and cell phone to every protest.
