What weird media kabuki regarding Scalita |
|
It's as if the GOP says to itself: "Let's throw out some hamhanded political theater by making it seem like the Democrats have the power to make a grown woman cry. It doesn't matter how cynical, obvious, or ridiculous it is - the more obvious it is, the more the media will pick it up."
And the media says to itself: "Our corporate masters have laid down a hamhanded, cynical, obvious, fake 'scandal' for us to pick up on! Won't they be pleased when we run with it like we were born yesterday, with no skepticism and harsh words for the Democrats! Even though a child could see through it, we don't want to be scooped by our competitors, who might run with it even harder than we will."
And the GOP says to itself: "Eeeeeeehxcellent"
I mean, what is going on with the media. It's like they couldn't stop themselves, even if they wanted to.
Is this really all the Democrats would need to get good media coverage, just staging some hokey, melodramatic BS for the media to lap up (and if that's so, why don't they get on it? Hell, we've got Hollywood on our side.)
Or, if a Democrat did it, would the media suddenly become the hardbitten cynics they are supposed to be?

it's because they're fucking stupid.
I listen to ABC and CNN every morning long before the crack of dawn, and hear the most absurd things roll off these "journalists" lips, statements, not questions.
Journalists need to ASK questions and seek answers, not just read prepared statements. Maybe the newsdesks need to consider trading a little photogenicity for some brain tissue and adherence to journalistic principle.

2. Pertinent and pointed question |

and one I've been wondering about myself--why doesn't our side go more for the hysterical jugular and exploit the emotional excesses? I think for one thing, because we've got too much integrity, and for another, as you said, because the Corp. Media would just turn it against us. SG
