1. Direct quote and a paraphrase. |
|
Quote: "Section B, however, is the applicable provision. Section B doesn't state a general proposition; it states a specific proposition. Among them, B4 says that a judge shall recuse if the judge has a financial interest in a party to the case. It then goes on in Subsection D to define what financial interest means, and it says a financial interest means a financial interest, however small, and then it goes on to list various exceptions."
(Paraphrased) Judge Alito relied on exception 3 of Section D, which had nothing to do with his own financial interest of mutual funds, but rather with insurance policies.

My, my, Alito the "rule of law shapeshifter."
Thanks, liveoaktx. Excellent witness.

3. Watched the whole thing. What perfectly pitched testimony. Its funny |
|
how nothing resonates like the facts. He basically called Alito a nobody -- but saved it for last. Could that man have come across any more clearly or decently? All Alito'sfancy dancing around the facts and the wife/diversion is a crock of shit. Great. Thanks for posting. I am so disappointed in Dems.

4. Well, I just now finished watching the entire video. |
|
My future conceivably rests on my ability to scrimp and save now and invest in IRA's, because I'm self-employed and really don't make very much. What I'm hearing, clearly, is that with Alito on the USSC, the "government" could take that away from me in the event of any kind of dispute, or that the IRA's, if I die, would not go to those whom I designate as beneficiary.
This is extremely critical. And I must admit that I was shocked to discover Alito's investment in Vanguard has grown to the hundreds of thousands. Alito is a very rich man and he will rule in his own financial interest, no doubt about it. The Vanguard case absolutely substantiates my asssertion.
