West Point Motto:
“Duty, Honor, Country,” a striking expression of West Point ’s time-honored ideals, is the motto of the U.S. Military Academy and is imbedded in its coat of arms.

Like em or not those young people from West Point are this country's best and to waste em (along with all the others) in Iraq as bin Laden walks free and the Taliban take back over Afghanistan again is too sad.

This is the president of the country and should be getting rousing bursts of applause. It's almost embarrassing to listen too!

8. I was just going to comment on this. It seems that there are only a few |
|
that a over applausing to compensate for the lack of others. For all we know, it might be Backwash invited to hear the commencement address.

14. And they really have to be part of it. As I understand there is a lack of |
|
officers in the Army. These young people are not going to be getting cushy assignments and my heart breaks that they will be putting their lives on the line for this frigging maniac.

Gunnery Sergeant Hartmann could have written Bush's speech to the graduating cadets of West Point:
"Today you are no longer cadets. Today you are Army officers. You become part of a brotherhood. Most of you will go to Iraq. Some of you will not come back. Soldiers die. That's what you're here for. But the Army lives forever. And that means you live forever."
He's got two problems in giving that speech. One is that Lee Ermey would go to the White House and beat Bush's ass, and the Secret Service would let him do it. The other is that the parents of the newly-minted officers would storm the stage and beat Bush's ass...and once again, the Secret Service would allow it. After all, it's just a little ass-beating, and he really needs one. (Come to think of it, the superintendent of West Point would probably be first in line. "You know how hard I worked on these officers?")
It would be best not to remind these kids, on this most joyous of days, that there's a decent chance they'll come home from Iraq either wounded or dead and an almost certain chance they'll come home fucked in the head. So no Iraq references--he's got to fall back on the one thing that always worked for him, which is 9/11.
Unfortunately for Bush but fortunately for everyone else, 9/11 isn't working anymore. No matter how Faux News, CNN, WorldNetDaily and NewsMax try, people are coming around to the fact that Saddam is in no way responsible for 9/11.

did not impress the assembled audience. It was good to see him squirm! I never thought I would be so mean, but I love to see this maniac embarrassed!
