Considering that you can get Colbert's speech for free all over the internet, it's amazing that so many people are willing to pay $1.95 to download it that it's still at #5 after this much time.

I just paid to download it just so I can help "keep it on the charts."

This week, I bought The following albums:

Dixie Chicks: Taking The Long Way
Neil Young: Living with War
Pink: I'm not Dead

I highly recommend all three.

There's even a hidden track on Pink's album that alone would be worth the price of the whole disc.

20. I did. My first country CD
and I like it. I bought it just to support them for speaking out - and speaking out early. Plus, I read about them in TIME magazine and liked what I read.
Listen to the music. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
(but I still prefer rock)

21. This album seems to be more cross-over than country
The same goes for some of the songs on Pink's album, which blur the lines between rock and folk, and rock and country.

23. Pink's second CD, "Try This"
was pretty much rock n roll. That's my favorite Pink CD. I haven't really been too aware of what I consider "country" music -- I just thought I didn't like it. I need to be more open-minded. Of course, I've always loved Patsy Cline -- but then, her voice is her own category.

24. I went through a rebelious Country Western phase as a young teen
Lots of Earl Thomas Connoly, Sawyer Brown, Alabama, Oak Ridge Boys, etc.

I just found some old tapes I'd recorded off the air from WKHK-FM New York.

25. love the chicks
Hi everyone I am brand new here.

I love the Dixie Chicks, I have seen them three times in concert and just bought my tickets for the upcoming tour thanks to target and presales. It is by far one of the best CD's and after Reba's little performance on the award show this week I say they are better off without the country industry. This is the industry that has a song called "get drunk and be somebody"

6. Colbert-its...CATCH IT!
Edited on Sat May-27-06 02:02 PM by rocknation
Particularly since I have first dibs on its copyright. ;)

If you don't like or want the albums, spend a buck or two on one of the songs, at least. After all, the last time the Dixie Chicks got "Dixie-chicked," they ended up selling out their tour and selling six million albums!

By the way, thankyoustephencolbert.org is past the SIXTY thousand signature mark!

I downloaded mine from Napster. I really didn't like the Neil Young songs, so I passed on that album.

26. i've got pearl jam but not the coup....
I have the new Pearl Jam CD, I don't think I have heard of the coup-----I went through a ten year country music faze and then when the industry proved it's stereo-type in 2003 I pretty much stopped listening to the music and got XM Radio to help ease the pain of DJ's who don't listen to real fans. Being a huge Dixie Chicks fan since 1998 I can't help but wonder if the people that banned their music and bulldozed their Cd's were really their fans. I have seen them three times and each time I go I have never seen those red-necks I have seen daughters and mothers and families almost no cowboy hats. I bet this time I will see NO cowboy hats at all. But yes I will look up the coup. I am always looking for new music now. I lost ten years of it, except the Chicks. Green Day love American Idiot and all their Cd's-----

22. I bought mine from Napster. . .
I am a country music fan, but not a huge fan. Nevertheless, I felt duty bound to support
the Chicks.

We can't let the haters of free speech get away with attempting to punish people for
exercising their rights.

27. supporting the chicks (thank you)
Was it Bill Maher that said at the Vh1's Big in 03 award show when presenting Natalie Maines with the Big Quote In 03 award that said "Hysteria is a tactic that bullies use and free speech depends on people standing up to those bullies" now I don't think that is exactly how he put it. I didn't think too much of it back then but now with the CD and the haters trying to re-open the wounds by saying it's the Chicks fault, etc. I am so glad and proud to see people buying the CD even though their not huge fans, it gives me hope that I am not alone in the world with defending the Dixie Chicks
