that "the talks" be witnessed by UN Observers or some other 3rd party observer not allied to the Bush regime to ensure that they, the Bush regime, does not lay down impossible conditions for Iran to meet that would pave the way for a military attack.
I can envision "private discussions" occurring and Bush cronies leaving the table addressing the press that they offered Iran a path to peace but they refused to cooperate.
Yeah, right - I'm gonna believe you assholes.

In the eyes of power, you are asking for too much because power does not like being checked or held accountable for its machinations. It is more comfortable operating under the cloak of darkness.
It's a damn good idea though.
