Other than the 3 cent cost for a sheet of paper and a boilerplate commendation and the $1.79 cost for a medal and a ribbon why do we discriminate amongst those who die in the military???I mean on the most basic point, both Joe Schmo and Pat Tillman are killed by non-hostile forces....Really-Pat tillman was killed by friendly fire-So both purple heart and silver star are moot...just a fuck up...But for those who live and try to put a purpose to the deaths of a young man or women a cheap ass medal may be enough...to see any life snuffed is bad enough-to then parse terms is nearly criminal....
