I don't think I am prejudiced but in some ways I may be

For instance I do not like the term African American. I think it is divisive. It automatically divides people (Americans) into different classes of American. While there are many different colors and ethnicities in America we are all Americans. I do not like to preface the term American with black or white or African or Irish or Chinese or ??????. I am not sure why there is any reason to differentiate among Americans at all. I always refuse to answer any questionnaire that asks for race (or religion). I believe there is only one race and that is human. Do you believe I am being prejudiced for this belief?

but sometimes descriptives are necessary for us to tell one from another.

I find "black" to be an easy enough descriptive. "Fish belly white" is apt but cumbersome, so feel free to use Irish for me.

As for prejudices, we've all got 'em. I tend to be wary of anyone who feels compelled to tell me how religious s/he is. I have a hard time dealing with some cultures, although I do appreciate them from a comfortable distance. I dislike this part of myself, but I mamage to give everybody a 5 minute chance in spite of it. Most of the time, that's enough to win me over.
