Sisters in arms
They are seldom remembered except by those who loved them and they are too often ignored, so for my sisters, from Pvt Deborah Sampson to Pfc Lori Piestewa. In memoriam and salute.

You too were there on St Crispin's Day
And no one can say you nay.

4. Hey, Sarge -- you know we worried about you for 20-plus years
I hope you're having a great weekend. You and Jim have both earned it richly.

Remembering Bookie Bowman today -- the first Vietnam death from Saginaw. He lived right around the corner from us and came home to show us eight year old neighborhood kids his uniform before shipping out. I'm not much of a flag-flyer -- but I made damned sure that I got Old Glory waving out front of the house today.
Only the dead have seen the end of war. May they all rest in peace.

6. Hey, you put in your time on the oars, too.
Poo, the only danger I was ever in was when I practiced the family trait of talking back to the a-holes.

Your uncle is out playing with his bees, no PHs for bee keepers. Your aunt is trying to get motivated to clean up la casa del Sarge - yuck.

Rest in peace, Bookie. You deserved better.
