To those of you who wish to deny Citizenship to children

born in America to illegal immigrants.

Like the Republlican Party Platform decided on in Yakima, Washington.

What part of the Constitution do you not hate? And why are y'all so friggin bigoted?

Amendment XIV
Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

1. Good questions. One other issue that made my blood BOIL
was people actually considering sending the parents back to Mexico and leaving the children here....seperating them!!! WTF??? What have we become??

2. Washington state Republicazn party had decided to deny
citizenship to those BORN IN THE USA simply because they are Hispanic and mommy or daddy is illegal.

Asked to explain the bigoted plank in the platform, we were told, they believe this is what the majority of Washington State residents want.
The Republican party is pandering to bigots and hoping to divide voters so they do not look at the monumental failures of the Republican lead legislature since 2001.

5. Nothing that says that people who claim to be Dems can't be bigots
All those people who think that eliminating birthright citizenship is a great idea should see how much trouble Japan's citizenship policies have caused for people whose great-grandparents were brought from Korea and Taiwan as slave labor in the 1920s, who do not speak their ancestral languages, who have never been to their ancestral countries, but are still required to get South Korean, North Korean, or Taiwanese passports (depending on where there ancestors lived) and are forbidden to take government jobs, such as schoolteacher or police officer. If they commit a crime, they are deported to their country of citizenship.

Is that what we want?

4. What we have to watch is how they word
any changes to the constitution. I think bush or other neo con leadesr would want to pull our citizenship if we become too uppity in our dissent against his rule.

6. You know you can flame me all you like, I don't care, but this whole
thread sounds like a freepermobile stuck on reverse. If the Dem party is SO flush with voters you think you can ignore or deride people's reservations about amnesty or worker bonnet's for babies or whatever is being talked about re: immigration---you are sadly mistaken.

Supporting people who name others as bigots when it isn't or won't be recognized that reasonable reservations ARE reasonable is disgusting.

This is an older article, but it sounds to me like dems may have a great deal at stake. (So far, raw census numbers which include millions of undocs are used for house re-allocation.)

13. That's some of it and several blue states get lots of immigration, but
the huge numbers of immigrants who settle in the south are having a major impact. And it looks like Utah is going to be a winner, too. A couple of times bills have been introduced to limit re-allocation figures to citizens only, but I don't think anything has been passed so far.

is how they will get around it..

What lots of people forget, is that the original document was written PRIOR to the hyper-politization of "parties"...(the framers actually feared the arrival of parties)..and the country was a very empty place back then too.. they probably WANTED more people...Once the partisanship took hold, it became nearly impossible to amend the constitution, so we have a lot of things in place that really no longer apply..

2nd amendment comes to mind.. The framers never imagined 50 caliber guns, or Uzis.. they only wanted a way for the locals to hang onto their weapons in "WELL ORGANIZED MILITIAS" so that if the UK ever came back to fight us, there would be units in place and trained... so they would not have to start from scratch.. because they were dealing with muskets and rather primitive weaponry, it made sense to let the citizens keep arms... people hunted for food back then too..
