Pentagon to families: Go ahead, laugh
http://news.yahoo.com/s/usatoday/20060113/pl_usatoday/pentagontofamiliesgoaheadlaugh

When the stress of the war in Iraq becomes too severe, the Pentagon has a suggestion for military families: Learn how to laugh.

With help from the Pentagon's chief laughter instructor, families of National Guard members are learning to walk like a penguin, laugh like a lion and blurt "ha, ha, hee, hee and ho, ho."

...

"We believe our program prevents hardening of the attitudes," says Scott, in one of his wordplay aphorisms that beg for a rimshot. The founder and chief executive of the World Laughter Tour is psychologist Steve Wilson, who calls himself "Cheerman of the Bored."

"The guiding principle is to laugh for no reason. And that's one of the reasons it works so well for military families," Scott says. "There's a lot they have to be stressed over, a lot of worries, a lot of concerns."

Of COURSE they have a lot to be stressed over! Their sons and daughters, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters are being used as pawns to spread the joy of capitalism so the PNAC can enact its poisonous vision and the BFEE and its axis of evil allies can reap the financial rewards.

2. I have not hear from my Son since
the 1st of the month... I find nothing funny about this and I don't feel like laughing. When they experience what I and other parents are experiencing, then they can make this statement. What a bunch of Dumb Asses!

4. More suggestions: Do impressions of Ann Coulter, Donald Rumsfeld
and George himself. Act-out George crawling up Cheney's rear-end, histrionically weep on cue when folks say nice things...the hilarity might never end.

Get those "ya-yas" out!

6. Now I've heard EVERYTHING!!!
No body armor? Bwahahahaha!!!

No uparmor for yer Humvee??? Tee hee tee hee!!!!!

Limbs blown to shit? Blinded? Crippled? Ho ho ho!!!!

Returning home in a "personnel transfer tube?" Guffaw, chuckle!!!!

This is not just sick, it is INCREDIBLY STUPID. There's NOTHING FUNNY about this fuckup in Iraq, and telling people to chortle and giggle in the face of personal and national disaster ain't gonna polish that fetid, sloppy turd.

Gee, why didn't they trot this shit out after 9/11? Let's all have a Laugh-In at the WTC, why don't we???

7. I think Bush already follows this "program", doesn't he?
He always seems to be laughing or on the verge of laughing "for no reason"; look how emotionally healthy he is.

8. They are right--when Bush gives an order, troops and families should
laugh.

And not do another fucking thing:

"Go to Iraq?! Bah hah hah hah hah! You're a funny little retard in a tie! Why don't YOU go, you dickless ass weasel? Bah hah hah hah hah!"

10. "We believe our program prevents hardening of the attitudes,"
Interesting statement. "Hardening of attitudes" -- Like becoming anti-war/anti-Bush perhaps?

Really creepy...

12. I'm offended by platitudes.
"The guiding principle is to laugh for no reason. And that's one of the reasons it works so well for military families," Scott says. "There's a lot they have to be stressed over, a lot of worries, a lot of concerns."

I laugh about the crimes of international corporations and their political operatives everyday. Don't you? :grr:

13. This sounds to me like "more than strategy"
Inappropriate laughter is a sign of mental illness.
So they encourage people to laugh inappropriately, then when their family member is killed and this person all of the sudden doesn't find anything funny and decides to speak out (a la Cindy Sheehan), the government media already has a case for instability.
When they interview their friends and neighbors, they will say...yeah, she used to burst out laughing for no particular reason...:eyes:
Be careful what they are putting out there. There is always a method to their madness.

How much tax dollars was used to come up with this
program?
