Flag burning (desecration) one vets view.

I am a navy veteran and frankly could care less if someone burns a flag or soaks it in urine (‘piss Christ’) for that matter. I am not ‘unpatriotic’ by saying those words in fact nothing is more patriotic than expressing your opinion.

I know freedom of speech has limits under some certain circumstances but it does not apply here.

This ‘Flag Flap’ comes up every year, as we get closer to July 4th, just as the ‘attack on Christmas’ starts around the holidays.

No one died in a war for this country over a flag.

The GOP, The Limbaugh’s and sadly the now the Hillary’s can pander all they want.

I hate fake pandering patriots Democrat or Republican.

Its time for these freaks to ‘stop waving the flag and start picking up the rifle!’

1. Flags should either be burn-proof or just made in America
Neither are true at this point.

3. This vet agrees
I never fought for the flag, only what it represents. A menu represents the food at a restaurant, but you don't see me eating the fucking menu.

4. Excellent analogy!
I haven't seen that one before.

The flag certainly represents a menu. One of the main dishes is dissent. Without dissent or the freedom to express yourself, the democratic menu is worthless.

5. If people didn't get upset about it
they wouldn't do it.
It's a freaking hot button issue, on BOTH sides.
Makes no never mind to this vet either.
Great analogy with the menu.

6. Bush doesn't like flag burning because he wears them.
The Bushes have wrapped themselves in the flag for protection. If people would start burning flags they could wipe out the whole Bush Klan.

7. Although I find
flag burning disgusting, I refuse to support any effort to diminish the symbolism of true freedom demonstrated by being able to burn the flag without fear of government retribution. If we allow flag burning to become illegal, that makes us no different from any other dictatorship or fascist regime.

8. I'd rather see someone burn a flag in outrage than to see them
wrap themselves in it to take our rights away.

9. prosecuting people for "desecrating" SYMBOLS . . .
is one giant leap toward fascism . . . or worse . . .
