URGENT!!! My head just exploded!
Edited on Mon May-29-06 11:32 PM by serryjw
Please tell me WE and MOVEON are for NET Neutrality? Right? Look who's website I'm on!I've been on DU for over 12 hours....please tell me I'm not crazy!

quote........

Don't Let the Left Regulate the Internet
Take action to prevent "network neutrality"

Don't let MoveOn.org, Nancy Pelosi, and the Democrats regulate the Internet! MoveOn.org and the far left are pulling out all the stops to pass legislation that will regulate the Internet under a scheme known as "network neutrality." The House of Representatives will vote any day now! This regulatory scheme would give big government the right to regulate the Internet, a reversal of the "hands off" approach that has allowed the Internet to flourish for more than a decade.

end quote.......

4. Calm down
This is doublespeak from the people who want to end Net Neutrality.

They're peddling this "government wants to regulate the Internet" crap as a selling point.

16. This Is Pure B.S.
THEY (our opponents) want corporations to regulate it...and so they are framing it this way....if government doesn't let us fuck people over, then the government is regulating it....wahhhhh...must be allowed to fuck people over....wahhh...must not let government stand between us and our ability to fuck over people!! Waaaaaaahhhhh!!

17. Yes, I know all about it
I've spent hours wandering through their disgusting websites.

Actually they're using some very interesting tactics and language to try to convince both RWers and liberals that this is a good idea.

For the RWers, it's "big, bad government wants to regulate you". And for liberals and progressives, the message is "make the big corporations pay their share".

What they DON'T say is that the little guys, the small content providers ALSO have to pay though the nose for the same access.

The sad thing is, some people will fall for this crap.

11. We've had ads here saying the telcos are to blame
And urging a NO on Net Neutrality. I've been trying to catch who's behind these false ads. It's criminal the way they lie about what Net Neutrality is really about...which leads me to suspect a corporation or other GOP front is responsible.

13. Net neutrality is a GOOD thing.
"Net Neutrality prevents AT&T from choosing which websites open most easily for you based on which site pays AT&T more. So Amazon doesn't have to outbid Barnes & Noble for the right to work more properly on your computer."

Read an article from C-Net here:

18. Um...sponsored by "Americans for Tax Reform"
Edited on Tue May-30-06 01:59 AM by WilliamPitt
"My goal is to cut government in half in twenty-five years, to get it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub."

"We are trying to change the tones in the state capitals - and turn them toward bitter nastiness and partisanship."

"Every time you cut programs, you take away a person who has a vested interest in high taxes and you put him on the tax rolls and make him a taxpayer. A farmer on subsidies is part welfare bum, whereas a free-market farmer is a small businessman with a gun."

Grover Norquist, everyone.

*appaluse*

'Nuff said.
