If Jenna Bush were killed in Iraq, would W finally understand?
He says he grieves for every fallen soldier, and he says he hugs the grieving mothers and fathers at photo ops, but to him, the fallen are merely uncomfortable statistics in the news, which he doesn't follow.

The 2,500 wasted lives do not effect him in any way, he can't possibly understand the pain of a parent who has lost their 22 year old son or daughter in the sands of Iraq.

The fact is, neocons don't grieve like you and I grieve. They don't grieve over the same things. In fact, they can order up soldiers like they were on an assembly line, and not one single salty tear will they sacrifice when they come back home in flag draped coffins under cover of darkness.

Casey Sheehan understands that hurt. W never will. Two thousand and five hundred American mothers and fathers feel that hurt, and God knows, it's the worst hurt there is.

To see your son lying wasted in a coffin, in his proud uniform for the last time, is hurt.

And until one of his own lies dead in his arms will he ever understand. The death of your son or daughter does not move him in any way. He is not a normal human being. He is not one of us. He is a real live monster, and he is in control of the whole world now. He does not understand our grief. He can't.

I mean, if past performance is an indicator of future results where GOP politicians are concerned...

Just like he tried to do with Pat Tilman, until it came out that he was an Atheist.

7. Forgive my memory, but isn't Jenna the one whose surgery he
skipped? Can't recall the details, but I remember being astounded at the time. I'll have to look it up. But no, I don't think he feels even the most basic parental love. He's one of those mammals which would eat its young if it would sate his hunger.

19. Yes, you are right.
Jenna developed appendicitis on Thanksgiving Day 2000. This was during the recount debacle. Jenna was admitted to the hospital, and the family then decamped to Florida for their annual vacation. This left Jenna alone in the hopital, to recover on her own. I realize that she was technically an adult at the time, but just barely. It was an astounding display of apathy nonetheless.

20. But such a "Christian" ideology as his can refuse to see anything.
The nature of such faith is that it is buried beneath layers of self-deception. He uses the born again evangelicalism like he used to use the bottle previously. Ever try to reason with a drunk? It's far easier than reasoning with Bush. I don't believe the man will ever see much, certainly not on his own. Maybe the death of a daughter would do it, but I think he would equate her sacrifice with Christ's and it would only reaffirm his stupidities.

22. Nope. Ginna and Tonic are just a "pain in the ass".
Vanity Fair's Christopher Hitchens reports in his August column that "a prominent senator" told him that, while visiting the President recently, the senator complimented Bush on his desk photo of First Daughters Barbara and Jenna.

"You have children?" Bush asked.

"Oh yes, Mr. President."

"You like them?"

"Of course, Mr. President."

"Mine are a pain in the a--," a straight-faced Bush allegedly responded.

as I recall, several years back Jenna had to have emergency surgery to remove her appendix, and it wasn't important enough for Daddy to cancel his fishing trip.

26. Additionally
When GWBs sister died of cancer when they were kids they didn't even have a funeral.

This is scary to me, I can't imagine the most powerful man in the world being so out of touch with his feelings. One thing I've learned is that if you want to control your feelings, you have to understand them. Otherwise you end up being run by them.

The man is run totally on fear.

27. Last night, my husband and I watched a little bit of the Comcast
evening news. One of their national stories is the wreath laying ceremony at Arlington. It also showed part of *'s speech mentioning how much more we have to sacrifice for the war on terra. I made the comment, "I don't see you sacrificing anything." Afterwards, my husband asked if * had any sons. I told him no, he has two daughters. I also mentioned that * had nephews that were of age to serve in the military.
