3. Is that how jaded Americans have become?
We can have some jergoff get on the news and make inhumane treatment of prisoners go away--because nobody was killed? Shit, to some (30% or so) it wouldn't matter if people WERE killed, as they are just brown people "over there" that don't worship the right god and wear towels on their heads.

5. What was his point? So the Marines were playing catchup at
Hadith? Sorry, I don't mean to downplay the tragedy but is his "argument" is suppose to support the idea that nothing happened in Hadith because you can't prove anything "bad" happened elsewhere? Smerconish is just a male version of Mann Coulter or Michelle Malkin - just say anything outrageous and change the conversation from honest and open debate on any subject.

I don't think we know whether anyone has died at Abu Gharib (sp?), hell the repugs don't know a damn thing that has gone on for five years they are so busy covering up, hiding behind Cheney's skirt and whistling past the graveyard to do any real investigation into Bush & The Cabal. There hasn't been a single open, complete investigation about anything these a$$wipes have done. I expect this administration will find some lower level Marines to "take the rap," declare there is nothing else to see and move on to the next "non-scandal" - a lot like Abu Gharib.

7. Wrong there were deaths at Abu Ghraib

Now both incidents were wrong, you don't torture and kill the same people who claim to be liberating

9. How does this guy have a job?
I'd never heard of him before, but I happened upon this, which sounds pretty accurate:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/cenk-uygur/michael-smerconish-is-a-p_b_20843.html

Michael Smerconish is a pussy. A big gaping pussy. He loves to talk tough from his comfortable reclining chair about death penalties and the war on terror - and how tough he would be in killing people. Yeah, I know, you're really tough. I'm sure Al Qaeda is quaking in its boots thinking about big, tough Smerconish.

I keep hearing him talk about how the country is sissified. He loves that term. I don't know why, but it keeps going in and out of his mouth. Back and forth, back and forth.

He says we're a country of sissies because we didn't execute Zacarias Moussaoui, who was involved with 9/11. You know what else happened on 9/11? Hundreds of brave firemen and police from liberal -- and hence sissy -- New York went into a burning building and never came out. The passengers on United 93 risked their lives and ultimately died to save their fellow Americans. One of the men who led the charge against the terrorist on board was a gay American. What a sissy!

I'm so tired of hearing these big, bad conservatives try to characterize decent people who try to do the right thing as wimps - and worse yet, in their world - gay! It doesn't take a genius to figure out where Smerconish is going with the sissy label, but in case you missed it, he hits you over the head with it by stating the definition in his latest post: A boy or man regarded as effeminate.

10. wtf? I thought there were 30 confirmed dead by torture?
Edited on Tue May-30-06 06:59 AM by Lerkfish
was I dreaming that?

I edited to add: that was 30 in all our torture prisons total, including gitmo.

I could still be wrong, though, but wasn't it at least 30?

12. Michael Smerconish, reporting from the Ministry of Truth.
I don't know how I missed reading 1984 in my younger years, but I'm reading it right now, and the descriptions of how they rewrite the past are unnerving. I can easily see it being something this administration would aspire to.

14. Isn't That Tweety's Good Buddy?
Seems like he gets a lot of face time on Slimeball these days...possibly cause he tried promoting Tweety's brother in his election. It's your typical black is white crap the Repugnicans are trying to throw today to revise history before they're judged by it. File this under "Whistling Past The Graveyard".

How the hell do people in Philly put up with this POS??
