Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) is set to deliver key addresses this week to the New Hampshire State Democratic Party Conventions, RAW STORY has learned. Due to its early primary, the support of New Hampshire Democrats is considered key to securing the party nomination for President.
Feingold will kick-off the convention by addressing an opening breakfast on June 3. Feingold will take questions from the audience following the speech.
"I look forward to listening to what Democrats in both states have to say about the major issues facing our country," Feingold said in a release. "And how we can move forward together toward a Democratic victory at all levels this November." Feingold also plans to address the Maine State Democratic Convention the same week.
When asked if this should be taken as indication that the Senator intends to seek the Democratic nomination in 2008, Spokesman Trevor Miller told RAW STORY, "Senator Feingold was happy to accept invitations from both the New Hampshire Democrats and Maine Democrats for conventions in both states this weekend. Russ has said in the past that he'll make a decision on 2008 following this year's midterm elections."
