Wonder how the Nashville establishment will try to spin this?
Watch for a new wave of attacks by kountry fanz. GAC was playing every jingoistic, emotionally manipulative and superficially "patriotic" video in the vault yesterday. :puke:

They had an extensive interview spread over 3-4 days & performed live last Friday. They were on David Letterman last week - they've been all over the place!

They did a great live version of Landslide, and had a great interview - including some of Howard's trademark questions (which I won't mention here because it would lead off on a sexual tangent).

Okay, I said it. I do like the new CD, particularly love "Lullaby." I just like the overall feel of their last CD a little bit better. Maybe it just needs to grow on me. I think I'll go crank it up out by the pool. Tah!

Hope is a very powerful emotion, isn't it? What a fabulous song. I hope the Dixie Chicks' CD hits #1 and makes them a mint, if for nothing else than to prove that truth will always win over lies and hatred. Lord knows Natalie deserves to be recognized for having the courage of her convictions.
Chicks Rock.

looks headed for between 410-430,000 in (debut) sales. (Their 2002) album Home debuted in August of that year with 780k in sales, on its way to a total of 5.8 million."
Nearly six million albums, and a sold-out tour to boot? Those evil-doing wingnuts dixie-chicked The Dixie Chicks REAL bad!

They try to get their digs in in the last paragraph, but this CD will be HOT for a long time.
Dixie Chicks: 500,000 albums in 1st week
Country and pop music fans must like something about The Dixie Chicks. The outspoken quartet sold 514,000 copies of their new album, Taking the Long Way, and entered the charts this week at numero uno. The album features the hit song, “Not Ready to Make Nice,” which addresses the Chicks’ feelings about death threats after they criticized President Bush on the Iraq war.
At this rate, “Long Way” could easily sell 2 million copies before it’s all over. The numbers are impressive, but they are off from the Chicks’ last release in 2002. The first-week sales of that album were a whopping 780,000 copies, and the total came to over 5 million. But that was before downloading was a factor in CD sales. Numbers aren’t yet in for the new album’s popularity on line.
