Free boxing tickets is front page news? |
|
Wow not free Boxing tickets.
Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, who has criticized Republican ethics, accepted free ringside tickets to three professional boxing matches from Nevada officials who were trying to influence his federal legislation regulating the sport.

1. From what I've heard, he then voted against them |
|
Accepting the tickets was legal (although it does looks bad), and within the Senate ethics rules. Check out what TPM has to say about it. http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/008592.phphttp://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/000772.php

It's not like he squandered hundreds of billions in an illegal war. Yet, we should hold our own people to high standards. Prediction, no big deal.

It's about news balance. You know massive K street scandle balanced by a few boxing ticets. They both generate 1 news story. So in the mind people say oh Harry Reid he's as corrupt as any Republican...

8. Legal. Perfectly legal. |
|
Now if they could find something for which Harry could be prosecuted, that would be different. And did he then vote in favor of them?
Just the same, Harry probably should watch his P's and Q's for a while. As was said on Ed Schultz, driving 55 in a 55 zone is legal, but if it's raining you might wanna slow down. It's raining. Slow down, Harry.

11. I see nothing wrong here... |

I am a huge boxing fan. The sport needs a federal boxing commission and a national boxing commission is somethng that John McCain has been trying to get support for for years.
If Harry Reid was invited to go to the fights, had his way paid for this so he could see the sport and maybe talk to local boxing officials, then he was doing his job.
Nothing to see here, folks, move along.
