"Ashamed to be American"
by John in DC - 5/30/2006 07:18:00 PM

A comment from the comments:

I had a friend die on 9/11 in Tower One, and the son of another friend in the Pentagon (I live in Maryland). I was heartbroken and angry as hell at Osama. I felt more patriotic than usual -- and I am usually very patriotic (even if what we did to Native Americans always pissed me off). But now, unfortunately, Bush has ruined my feelings for this country. I'm ashamed. 9/11 has become a sort of bastardized event where the sadness I feel now is directed at how 9/11 has been used and abused. Osama wanted to destroy our infrastructure and Bush played right into his hands. I'm so angry. And why this man is not impeached just kills me. I believe America has been lost. It started under Reagan, and now it is complete. I have no more hope. I think 9/11 actually destroyed us. The problem is it really wasn't Osama that did it -- it was Bush, the media, and the scores of ignorant Americans that have forgotten what we stand for. I actually hate the America that now exists. Thanks, George.

1. There was an excuse when Bush could be blamed on the Supreme Court...
but in 2004, there was no longer an excuse. There rest of the world saw it as his being ELECTED. It was HUMILIATING to think that it appeared that there were enough Americans in this country voting for that idiot that he could even come close enough to steal the election.

Why weren't there millions of people marching in the streets demanding a truly representative election?

It is truly an embarrassment to be an American now. Where are the statesmen? Where are the real patriots in the government? Where are the heroes who should have been standing up and fighting back? They are few and far between.

2. I agree
2000 was stolen.

But in 2004, people should have known better.

I get so ANGRY at people who say they hate Bush NOW.

NOW - whats new? -

We knew or SHOULD have known better.

3. Bush has not been impeached and won't be...
because not one single Democrat has the balls to put it forward. They don't so it is not going to happen. Oh yeah, they have the balls to ask us for campaign contributions and votes, but don't have the balls to actually call for impeachment.

I look at the bunch in the minority in Congress, see how they waffle on everything and just try to blow smoke up our asses. I don't expect shit from this bunch except calls begging for money and to rollover on command for Bush.

The election will be another disappointment. It will be a disappointment if we take back one or both houses, because then the expectations for what we expect them to accomplish will be raised and they will fail to meet them, like always, and immedeately start begging for money.

Bush won't be impeached because for it to happen Democrats have to get up off of their pompous asses and really, do you remember the last time that happened?

They could not pass healthcare when they were a majority and we expect shit from them now?

4. Impeachment NO. Indictment YES...
Impeachment is a slap on the wrist.
