Amazon is reported to be offering ways to "vote" for "older and more obscure" films to be offered on sale there.

Check this report here:

Sounds like they're working with Warner on this, so perhaps they won't have much of the films we want offered up for judgement, but we should all tell them which ones we feel are the ones we'd buy from them.

I've already "trained" Amazon's Gold Box to offer me more progressive stuff by going through my collection of progressive DVDs (even many that I didn't buy there), and noting that I own them in my profile and ranking them highly, and putting on my wishlist, those that I'd like to see offered or like to see cheaper before I'd buy them. If all of us did this, I'm guessing we'd exert some power or influence towards helping indy filmmakers like Robert Greenwald and others not only get on DVD, but perhaps in some cases get more theatrical releases than those token releases we get now.

Heck if Warner is working with them to get data on what DVDs to offer, I have to believe that Amazon carries influences with other studios, etc. in helping them decide what films to offer on DVD and show in theaters too.
