Walgreens employee accussed of stealing 13,000+ pills
When more than 13,000 pills disappeared from the Walgreens at 1224 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota police say it was a pharmacy worker who was stealing them with intent to sell.
Tracie Trott, 32, has been arrested and charged with with grand theft, drug trafficking, and dealing in stolen property.
In a Tuesday statement, Sarasota Police Public Information Officer Jay Frank said the store had video evidence of an employee dispensing the pills without a prescription. The manager and a Walgreens loss prevention supervisor suspected Trott, Frank said.

It took almost a year for Walgreens to figure this out? And then you wonder how these drugs end up on the street so easily...

4. LOL!!!
Damn that was fast!

I was going to try to time it to see how fast someone brings up Rush.

But seriously, how much do you want to bet that she will be thrown in jail for a couple years while Rush is free as a bird?

6. Ah, Loss Prevention....
The perfect combination of the secret police and the Key Stone Cops.... Never a middle ground, just one or the other.

12. i used to do "loss prevention" for a couple different retail chains...
Edited on Tue May-30-06 10:11 PM by QuestionAll
the now defunct Zayre, and the soon to be corportized-out-of-existence Marshall Fields- two totally different ends of the retail spectrum, but they had one thing in common- the employees were generally bigger thieves than the customers.

8. Boy Was I Ever Tempted To Post Something At That Site...
Regarding the LENGTH of time it took them to figure it out or something.

There's some SERIOUS, SERIOUS METH stuff going on around here and while I don't know WHY they aren't making the BIG busts, I do know the damage it's doing to many many families because these places are still up and running.

I'm one of those families that has been torn apart and am currently trying to gather enough information or get close enough to "fight back" and get them busted! While pain killers are very bad, it pales in comparison to METH!

TEN months for an in store job??? I'm kind of speechless.

9. I know the area very well
Just north of downtown Sarasota is very bad. Also downtown Bradenton is a place to avoid. Prostitutes and drug dealers all over the place. It's a mess. And the police have let it go on for years.

The police in Sarasota arn't exactly the cream of the crop. They prefer to set speed traps and bust kids for skateboarding instead of doing any real law enforcement work.

10. You Hit The Nail On The Head!
I actually live further south in Nokomis, but have lived in the area since 1978!! I know exactly what you're talking about too, and where you're talking about! Myakka City is another HUGE place too!

And to think, The Quay and Van Wezel are right in the midst of all this activity!

I've begun to think it's just all about MONEY. Bust them, book them, bail them... It ALL costs LOTS of money!

13. Oh money has everything to do with it
And the police don't deal with it because the city doesn't like negative publicity. There are many investors and rich folk in the area and they don't want the property values to decline.

The whole area is about money.

15. Yeah, It's Too Bad That Ft. Myers & Naples Surpassed
Sarasota as to how much income is made on a per capita basis. I think Sarasota slipped to 3rd about 3 or 4 years ago. I can't say it shocked me, but I would have thought that Palm Beach would have ranked up there. But then many of them aren't permanent... just Snow-Birds! It really can be a bit uppity around here!

I'm NOT one of those wealthy types, not by a long shot!
