Have you seen them throw that one out yet? I've seen a few Freeper types on blogs and message boards say, "FDR didn't catch Hitler" when someone says Bush can't catch Bin Laden. What the don't seem to understand is, Hitler was defeated and then killed himself and wasn't running around making tapes, so therefore he was no longer a threat and they also seem to forget Truman was President when the war ended. Bush has allowed Bin Laden run free and make tapes without even trying to get him anymore.

up in their faces that they "didn't catch bin laden".
They don't want to catch him so he'll be the eternal Boogie man?

It's about as persuasive as when freepers bring up the Dixiecrats when discussing their party's record on race and economic issues compared to ours.
i.e. Not at all.

3. No I haven't and it doesn't make any sense |

The war was still going on when Roosevelt died on April 12, 1945. Unless they think that Roosevelt should have did what Stalin did which was race to Berlin simply for propaganda purposes and in the process risk thousands of military lives than there's no reason why Roosevelt should got Hitler. If one is going to ba blamed for hte US and British not taking Berlin first it would be Eisenhower since he felt that the Germans should take Berlin first. I can't say I blame him honestly.

4. don't you mean the Russians take Berlin? |
|
That's what I've read about Ike anyway - sort of payback for all the Russian millions who starved & died because of the nazi aggression. I've read the German populace was terrified of the advancing Russians because they had a reputation of raping & murdering.

That's why I thikn Eisenhower let Zhukov and the Red Army take Berlin. I believe Eisenhower did the same thing with DeGalle and Paris. The former was a tough situation as our relationship with the Soviets was getting worse but I think it saved lives ultimately.

The Russians had over 100,000 dead, and almost 300,000 wounded.

Most of those 100,000 and 300,000 wounded did so unnesscary. Accounts have Stalin wanting to race to Berlin for a propaganda victory more than anything else. So yeah I agree that Ike made ultimately the better move there.

appreciated Eisenhower's choice. Only FDR hating, freakrepublik "we are fighting the culture war at home" cowards would say otherwise. They are so brave, critiquing the war, some 60 years later, just as they are so brave now, supporting the war in Iraq, from the front of their stateside computer screens.

And the best thing to do when faced with an imbecile is laugh. Or ignore them. Brush them off with the maximum of contempt.

Remember * "doesn't spend time thinking about him...not on his mind" (Paraphrasing)
This * cabal stopped looking after we invaded Iraq....they took their eye off the ball...and as long as Bin Laden lives....more Americans will die...whether they are soldiers or American civilians they are going to die because of the ineptitude of this administration...

at least they are consistant.
It's sad that people know so little about recent history. By that I mean what has gone on in the past 100 years, not since Toby Kieth put out his last CD.

Along with Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton!
Hitler was still alive until Ronald Reagan killed him with his bare hands and then got us out of the Great Depression.
And Bush killed Hirohito.

What the liberal media reported as Bush vomiting and nearly passing out was actually Bush spitting Yakuza-supplied poison needles at his one-time foe.

welcome to DU :hi:
And actually that is all true. Hitler actually escaped to Argentina, dontcha know. Then he had himself cloned and surgically altered, and he was actually the leader of Panama for a while. Yes, little known fact - Manuel Noriega is actually Hitler's clone, and that's why Bush had him captured in 1989 after the CIA discovered it. Actually, Bush wanted him because Hitler owed his grandfather 150 Deutschmarks from a poker game back in 1940. It's a complicated world. :tinfoilhat:
