3. questions
Like any production, the more it is done before you meet the "publisher", the more
control you have over the finished result. Are you saying as you need an editor?
Or, you've a finished manuscript and you're looking to publish a textbook? (pearson education)

Grant? exacty what for, more research and compilation, to print a first-edition yourself
so you can take it around? (not a bad idea if its ready)...

Here's a price list for a colour self-print perfect bound:

But the benefit of a publisher is the distribution network, unless you've got an angle
between lesson plans, a website, perhaps some teaching materials that you might charge
a second price for?.. or is this student-only curriculum?

4. Unfortunately if you don't have a match controlled study

or at least a quasi experimental study that indicates your lessons or curriculum influences academic achievement or behavior, you won't have much luck. I would say that if you have something that you think could be "innovative" then keep an eye out for a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants. Phase I's are about $100k. You can setup alerts for such grants at grants.gov.

on edit: If you have any other questions, drop me a PM and I can walk you through some issues you'll run into looking for a publisher.
