Amir Taheri: Is he for real or just a Bush mouth piece?
I found some of his analyses on C-Span very informative. But I get a sense in the gut that he is more of a Bushbot apologist and propaganda tool than an honest reporter of the situation in Iraq. As he points out, most of Iraq is living in peace and going about their business. But this was also true under Saddam. The areas that did not threaten Saddam lived in relative peace and prosperity and certainly, women were in general more free. It's hard to get a real good handle on what is really going on in Iraq but Taheri gave some pretty convincing information this morning about the positive side of the Iraq situation. But I just had to wonder if this wasn't all a tactic orchestrated by Rove to get our attention away from the Haditha massace?

1. If a journalist is not safe driving around Iraq
with the military, in the country's capital, then how can the situation be positive?? And since only about 1/4 of Iraqi's provinces have people, the fact that most of the country is peaceful is not really that surprising.

No one there = Peaceful

2. Taheri is a propagandist. He started the lie that Iran was
requiring a dress code to identify Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians (sp). He's the Iranian Chalabi and deserves no credibilty.

He also said Iraq was becoming a great tourist attraction in the ME. :wtf:

3. I don't know about about a tourist attraction...
but it was a hell of a job opportunity for me a couple of years ago.

4. He is fucking neocon, Bush is Lord, anyone against Bush

is bad type. You should read his often times ridiculous analysis of Mideast events in the NY Post every week. He is one of those Shah Pahlevi acolytes who was forced out into exile from Iran when the Ayatollas took over power.
