1. He'll continue to stand by him
Bush has never met an incompetent evil bastard he didn't like.

6. Besides, to ask for his resignation now, or to accept it if offered,
would imply that Bush had made a mistake and that's not something that he's likely to do.

3. Rumsfeld won't leave that office until...
...either a special prosecutor or incoming Democratic administration physically throw him out.

4. Stupid is a WIMP who has never recognized a mistake or
fired a loyal yesman. He is incapable of changing course, of recognizing error, or punishing reliable sycophants.

Rumsfeld will either quit or be hauled out in shackles. Stupid will never fire him or any other incompetent boob who tells him he's great, good, holy, and wise.

9. Who's heads rolled after My Lai?
An army 1st lieutenant (William Calley) and an army captain (Ernest Medina). Period. The rest of the chain-of-command was exonerated, even in the face of a massive and obvious criminal cover-up of a horrendous war crime.

10. My fear of how this will play out
Haditha will become yet another in a long string of "investigations" which never get investigated by this administration. Abu Gharib. Cheney's involvement with the Plame leak. Cheney's energy commission involving Enron's Ken Lay. Cheney's anti-terrorism task force pre-9-11, which didn't hold one meeting. Domestic spying on American citizens -- Bush was turned down by his own commission for several U.S. citizens. Who were they? Why was he turned down? Not terrorists...but journalistst? Professors? Hollywood liberals? Who were these people who his own commission refused to allow him to spy on?
No. Haditha should become a turning point. But this administration has been successful at burying, literally, the ugliness we aren't supposed to see or remember.
And our media is only too quick to move on to the next story. Missing prom queen or sensationalistic rape allegations.
Haditha will become a hazy memory.
And we'll be told to get over it.
