RNC mailing attacks Pelosi re: gas prices
Just got this in email:

Rising gas and energy prices are issues facing all Americans, particularly as we enter the summer months of travel and vacation.

The Democrats are quick to blame Republicans and complain that because of Congress, Americans are paying increasingly higher prices at the pump.

Before you believe the liberal media and Democrats, I want you to see Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi's voting record when it comes to energy bills in the U.S. House of Representatives. Nancy Pelosi has voted seven times against energy bills.

Pelosi voted AGAINST the Gasoline for America’s Security (GAS) Act (RCV#519, 10/7/05)
This bill encourages the construction of new oil refineries to help with growing demand and high gas prices, calls for crude oil pipelines to be built, bans price gouging and promotes conservation through carpooling and other methods. Nancy Pelosi would rather have you continue to pay high prices every day for gas than to look for a workable solution.

Pelosi voted AGAINST the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (RCV#132, 4/21/05)
This bill provides tax credit to hybrid vehicle owners, calls for an increase in clean-coal usage, gives subsidies for wind energy, wave power and other alternative energy sources, and allows for additional tax breaks for citizens and businesses who are making their homes and workplaces more efficient. This bill originally called for research and drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), which is just east of North America's largest oil field. Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats would rather have Americans be more reliant on foreign oil.
Pelosi also voted against the Conference Report on the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (RCV#445, 7/28/05), the Energy Policy Act of 2004 (RCV#241, 6/15/04), the Conference Report on the Energy Conservation, Research and Development (RCV#630, 11/18/03), the Energy Conservation, Research and Development Act (RCV#145, 4/11/03) AND the Securing America’s Future Energy Act (RCV#320, 8/02/01)!

No matter what the Democrats may spout out through the media, they have no voting record to stand behind their claims of being a pro-energy party. The Democrats have done nothing to support energy diversification, advancement and alternatives and now you, a hard-working, tax-paying American citizen, has to pay the price.

My counterpart at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is no better than Pelosi. Congressman Rahm Emanuel has voted six times against legislation that would reduce energy costs.

Are these the type of Congressmen and women you want representing you in Washington?

Sincerely,

Tom Reynolds, M.C.
Chairman

P.S. If you do not want to continue paying more and more at the gas pump, help the NRCC ensure that we do not lose the majority in the House of Representatives. As she has demonstrated since 2001, Nancy Pelosi does not care about energy in America. "Speaker Pelosi" will be no different. Click here to support the NRCC and keep the Republican majority in the House.

I'd sure like to hear how any of those pieces of shit legislation would have actually worked to LOWER gas prices. Oil companies won't build refineries because it's a huge capital investment. Drilling in ANWR wouldn't produce a drop for years and years and then it wouldn't be anywhere near enough to make a hill of beans of difference.

And we all know the Energy Bill was riddled with billion$ in tax cuts for the oil companies that were already bringing in profits that shattered all industry profit records in HISTORY!

Fuckers.

they make it sound like they will do something, and in my opinion many will fall for this old smear tactic BS.

Didn't the wingers say last year that they had no control over gas prices? Which is it?

3. As if Pelosi's vote would have stopped them from doing anything
they wanted to do. Glad to see they are taking responsibility for the last 5 years.:sarcasm:

4. Doubtless the Repugs stuck distasteful things in those bills
...and that's why Pelosi gave them a thumbs down. But that won't stop them. The oh so Christian Repugs never let facts stand in the way of their lies.
