I've just been slumming around Freeperland way. As soon as I finish this thread, I may take a shower.
The more I go onto that website and read their reactions to current news stories, the more confident I am that they've got nothin'.
Here's an example: somebody posts a Molly Ivins column on there, and they begin talking about how "she's typical....ugly fat chick, got p#ssed that she never got any when she was semi not so ugly and fat in college and is taking out on men by busting our balls and non stop yapping...." (direct quote). Another FReeper chimes in that she has a "twisted mind".
They can't stand her because she isn't swayed by Bush's give-the-terrorists-what-they-want-by-turning-the-country-into-a-police-state fear. She cuts right through the right-wing bullshit and they can't stand it!
Another post said that * really wasn't manipulating fear (and how dare Demoncrats say such a thing about our Great President :sarcasm:). But Al Gore was with An Inconvenient Truth.
Speaking not as a DUer and a liberal myself, but as an American, I'm not impressed by their talking points. "Staying the course" in Iraq isn't a plan. endless liberal-bashing and Duh-bya asskissing is not a plan. Defending torture, wiretapping, killing innocent civilians and lost civil rights with flawed (at best) arguments is not a plan. Nor is it American.
The biggest problem the Democrats have now is the Jefferson scandal, which, compared to the Abramoff scandal, is hardly anything to have a shit fit over.
I don't know how Freep Creeps live with themselves or sleep at night, but I do know that they're being exposed for what they are. There may be light at the end of this dark, dark tunnel. Ringo

1. The Jefferson scandal is far worse for them |
|
FReepers and others are having absolute shitfits trying to puzzle out why Denny Hastert and other GOPers are stepping up criticism of the executive branch over this. The latest blow for them is Rep. Issa (the cretin who sandbagged Gray Davis with the petition) calling for impeachment of Gonzales if the docs aren't returned.

an intense dislike and deep mistrust of politicians, as do I. Then you see how many are circling the wagons around a corrupt William Jefferson, you understand that they are acting true to form. All of them, Democrats and Republicans.
I have no faith that a savior will be found in President Pelosi or President Gore or President Condi or President McCain. I vote Democratic in hopes that whoever is elected will have as little influence in my life as possible and not serve as a detriment to what I want to accomplish for myself.

2. I remember hearing Pat Robertson make the same insults |
|
My first experience with the man was after F 9/11 came out and he was talking about it. He didn't talk about the movie as much as he was calling Michael Moore a fat traitor. I have been hating him ever since.

I've heard stuff like that from him too. He's a hack.
In fact, I wonder if Robertson may be losing it. A friend said that he thought so after some of Robertson's controversial comments October of last year.
Of course, fundies are out of touch with reality anyway. But maybe Robertson is REALLY losing it. Ringo

4. I've been lurking over there for a couple of years now and find |
|
that most of the posts I see lately are from the rabid right-wingers. It seems that most of the posters that I considered to be more moderate, judging from their responses, have abandoned the place or have decided to remain silent. There are no reasonable voices over there now that I can see, only those who have drunk the koolaid and found it to their liking.

I'll tell you what, Granny: every time I go over to Creepland, it just reinforces my devotion to the Democratic party and to liberal values. They make me want to go conservative Republican about as much as sticking my finger in a wall socket makes me want to become an electrician. Ringo

9. Shrinking constituency, eh? I'm not surprised. Just that 29% |
|
of intractable ignoramuses, I guess.
