PHOTO: Bush "troubled" by Haditha; is MINDFUL, vows punishment
Edited on Wed May-31-06 05:24 PM by Bluebear

His "troubled" look today.

WASHINGTON - President Bush promised on Wednesday that any Marines involved in the alleged murders of Iraqi civilians will be punished. A senior officer said the case could undermine Iraqis' support for the presence of American troops.

"I am troubled by the initial news stories," Bush said in his first public comments about the deaths of about two dozen civilians at Haditha last January. "I'm mindful that there's a thorough investigation going on. If in fact, laws were broken, there will be punishment."

======

"Mindful". How very Zenlike.

I'm sure he will punish the "folks who did this" much like he punished bin laden.

What the hell does this mean?
From the article:

"If in fact these allegations are true," Bush said, "the Marine Corps will work hard to make sure that that culture — that proud culture — will be reinforced. And that those who violated the law, if they did, will be punished."

WTF? If the allegations are true, that culture will be reinforced?

I will hope for MORE OF THEM ("reinforced").

Note also the "embedded" word "force".

6. Is he troubled that the investigation took three months to get started?
And it probably wouldn't have been if a magazine hadn't presented the Pentagon with photographic evidence that contradicted what they thought had happened? How far up the chain of command is he willing to go?

A spokesperson claims that Busholini only heard about this a few days ago via a reporter who called the WH.

Is this Prez. out of the loop?

22. Would a sergeant have the authority to send in a second group of Marines
to photograph the bodies after the shootings, and then file a false report that the deaths were caused by a roadside bomb?

When the press started swooning over Bush's "moral courage" before the Iraq invasion, I would write, "Three-year olds who sit alone at the dinner table rather than eat their vegetables have moral courage, too!"
