Anybody just catch Martha Stewart's litle slap at Bush?
She had on a kid who loves presidents and he said he met Bush Sr. Martha said "what did you ask him?" and the kid said "how does it feel to be the person who ever spanked a president" (or something to that effect). Martha said what did he say & the kid said Sr said he never spanked Dubya and Martha said "maybe he should have". She got a very positive reaction from the audience and the kid just looked at her - not sure he got it.

5. That's so unfair! What's he supposed to do, spank him over the phone...?
...from his girlfriends house? Geeze, that apartment was like 20-30 blocks away from their home in the Memorial area! Anyway, I'm sure Barbara Bush's "corrective enemas" was all the punishment that boy needed.

6. she's the real deal.
she took on the chin like a real person and came out of it all learning more and teaching more.

why was her sentence so immediately behind bars when the Lays and Delays get many more months for trial? naw, don't answer.

At first I didn't like Martha much because I felt so damned Failing as a housekeeper, mother, businessperson. I used to swear at her for me not Being Martha Like.

changed my mind totally. she's classy. she does her schtick, I do mine.

10. You made me remember an episode of Ellen, with Martha.
Ellen was having Martha over for dinner, so she tried imitating the settings from one of her books. The tablecloth was a wedding dress Ellen's optimistic mother gave her.

Everything went wrong, the food was ruined, so of course Martha saved the day. She ordered pizza and they drank beer, as they kicked their feet up on the coffee table.

It took me years to warm up to Martha, and now I find her dry sense of humor hilarious.

14. And you reminded me of the story about Barbra Streisand having
Martha for dinner in the Hampton's. Barbra's dessert was topped with "whipped cream" from a store and Martha was very surprised and said she had never had it before. ha Martha's a class act, but ya gotta love Streisand too.

17. whatever the 'failings of Martha' are
we should all be so blessed with a government that can take their lumps like she did. with respect for whatever there is left in the system, and humility.

13. because she chose to get it over with
She could have remained out on bond pending appeal but chose not to do so. Her trial was faster due to the fact she wasn't tried for insider trading (she probably didn't do that) but instead for lying to investigators and obstruction which she decidedly did do.

7. She was very pro-Gore in 2000
I remember she was emphatic on the Letterman show, saying that she was voting for Al. She was supposed to be hosting some big Dem fundraiser right around the time her troubles started. If I remember correctly, it was cancelled.

27. so true!
Martha has been bitchified simply for being a very successful and smart woman.

I love her new show, tape it everyday (when my vcr doesn't misbehave), and really enjoy it.

11. He asked "How does it feel to be one of the only living people
to have ever spanked the leader of the free world". Martha was funny when she responded "Maybe he should have" to the kids response that Bush said he never had spanked him. Martha looked sheepishly at the audience raised a knowing eyebrow and delivered her zinger. I couldn't help but laugh out loud, heartily, as did the audience.

15. Oh boy!
They'll find some way to send her to prison again. To this day I will always believe, ever since she stated on Jay Leno's show that she was voting for Al Gore, it would be the end of her career. Although it wasn't the end of her career but look what happened.

18. Tin foil hatter's? Do ya think the outright attack on Stewart's fraud was
a deal WalMart made (with dubya friends)to undermine K-Mart and Stewart's Dynasty?
Just so they could keep their competition at bay.

The only thing Kmart had going for it was the MS line and I have often wondered if this wasn't partially a get kmart out of the picture deal by bushmart.

24. My Martha Stewart Political Dream from 2003
I save my dreams. Here it is, from years ago:

In the dream, Martha and I were friends. I had some PR ideas about how she should counter the suit. She listened to my ideas and while she didn't reject them and in fact she listened very carefully and considered them, I could tell she was going to do her own thing, which was fine by me because I thought she had good ideas, too.

In this dream we went from scene-to-scene--we were in NYC at her headquarters, in her vehicle, at Westport at her house. Everything was so lovely. The colors of the rooms, the atmosphere, the gardens. Very vivid dream. Anyway, while we were together the PR campaign unfolded in the media. It soon became apparent that Martha was kicking the Justice Department's butt. In fact she was so successful that she then decided to take on the bush administration in general.

I went along merrily for the ride. I had this visual image of Martha with a mop and a bucket with suds in it. When she poured the soapy water on the floor, the faces of bush, cheney and ashcroft appeared and we gleefully scrubbed the floor with it. We were whirling around the room with our mops, like Samantha the witch. It was so much fun! At the end of the dream, I saw Martha's face and while it was determined, it was also obvious she was having fun fun fun!

Cher
