CBS: "Haditha Massacre Could Change the Course of the War"-could it? |
|
The commentator mentioned how My Lai did that very thing during the Vietnam war.
Will it really have any effect on the neocon's plans?
I seriously doubt it, these guys are dragging us down into hell with them with a big smirk.

3. I think it will accelerate trends that already exist. |

In America and in Iraq this war is already vastly unpopular. This will just make it even more unpopular, in both places.

7. More shock and awe is in order, maybe on Xmas Eve? |
|
The rocket's red glare and jingle bells and...I get all excited just thinking about it.
He might pull a Nixon and have a big bombing campaign to restore order, only with Israel and Iran in the mix. Accelerate the excitement.
It's o.k. to have a totally lost war for nothing, but for God's sake we can't have an unpopular one.

4. Not so sure the media will be as responsible as it was during VietNam |
|
AND, frankly, BushCo doesn't give a damn. If they have enough control in place, they will continue on the same path no matter what happens, and who protests.

parallel the My Lai aftermath remains to be seen.
My Lai was definitely a pivot point, but it took two years between the conviction of Lt. Calley and the troop withdrawal in 1973. In the meantime, conscientious objector filings went UP.

8. If I recall correctly, My Lai didn't come up |
|
until a year later, when Life Magazine published the pictures of the massacre, One thing about this media, they don't seem to publish any pics, because it might offend the freeper, Unless you want to go to either Corbis or Getty images or one of those sick gore sites, and unless Americans are shown the the total brutality of this war, many are content to wait for the next Survivor, or some celeberty scandal.
