(sc)Alito and the headlong slide toward Fascism
Of all the negatives around the Alito nomination, none strikes me more than the fascist tendencies that are clearly there:
Support for corporations up and down the spectrum. Pro-monopolization.
Increasing State power (surveillance, etc.) while decreasing individual rights.
Allowing religion and government to entwine.
Yep, pretty much your textbook Fascist.
"Americans have too many rights..." A. "the duck hunter" Scalia

Many think that Alito will be the swing vote on abortion and this is his main "calling" to this bench. The most far reaching impact may be the increasing hegemony of corporate influence over our government, economy and most other facets of life. If he ends up in the Supreme Court, how will Alito vote, when provisions of NAFTA and GATT (WTO)that allow for our Supreme Court to be overruled by Corporate tribunals come before that very court? Yes, he's in their hip pocket and that, more than anything else, is why he was nominated.

1. I only hope that the G.O.P.'s implosion
turns the tide in Congress in 2006 and can serve to mitigate the influence of Supreme Court with Alito on the bench.
What can be done to stop this nomination? Should the Dems filibuster him? I think we should shout the bastard down!

2. Doug Thompson, love him, hate him, or affect indifference towards him
has the very same opinion: http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publish/article_7986.shtml

Who ever thought that such discussions would even TAKE PLACE in this country, for any reason other than a harmless exercise in 'what if?' The fact that this possibiility is even being debated is troubling. It could NEVER happen here, we said...

So much for land of the free, I guess....

4. I saw Fascism rear its ugly head
when Bush was re-elected. Now, Alito is here to confirm it, and there are three more years of the man who "trashed" my country. BTW- The four horsemen didn't help any!!! Are they Skull and Bones members?
