I Was Totally Oblivious - Right-Wing Hate To wards Liberals in 60's/70's
and 80's.

I didn't attend college for various reasons, number one being money, but that was okay, I was too busy having fun, going to concerts, peace and love baby! I landed a fun and decent paying job in the recording industry.

I had no idea that there were the Alito's, Rove's, Bush's, Sanatorium's, etc..., crawling around the country's colleges plotting and planning their evil agenda to take over the government, tear up The Constitution, burn the Bill of Rights, and shove religion down our throats.

On the tube, all I saw were anti-war protesters and kids with long hair. I thought all college students' had the same ideals as me, only difference being, they were in school and cooler.

Radio stations played "anti-war" songs and no one I knew supported the war in Vietnam.
I didn't know a soul who voted for Nixon. But yet, he won by a landslide.

Didn't any of these guys ever attend a Rolling Stone, Pink Floyd, any rock band concert, Was Sam Alito one of those kids burning "Elvis Presley" records because he shook his hips all nasty?

They despised us back then, kinda like how I feel about them now.

10. I'm not getting laid
and it hasn't turned me into a right winger. I may be a very cranky liberal, but there's no chance of my turning toward the right. That's just a tired old excuse.

7. Yeah, they did
but there weren't as many. The Christian "right" didn't exist. They weren't very well organized. And the peace and love movement just kinda steamrolled everything else.

8. Granted I'm not as old as you, but I once had a young pub accuse me of
being liberal, because I'd been indoctrinated into thinking that liberalism is "cool." Basically these guys resent political liberals as well as those who simply have a liberal lifestyle. That anyone would dare question authority or live their lives for themselves is somehow antithetical to their version of how the world should work.

with my long-haired boyfriend and getting quite a few hateful stares and discriminatory behavior. In fact, we went around Wyoming b/c we had heard they were chasing "hippies" with scissors there. Yes, there was a solid "middle America" who hated us as "freaks."
