Conservatives will still get abortions |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-13-06 07:42 PM by realFedUp
You know that nothing will stop Republicans from getting their daughters abortions if they are young and unmarried or their health is in danger. They have afforded and will continue to afford private medical care to make sure that is the case, despite any laws to the contrary.
It's women who are poor, can't afford one more child, in abusive marriages or relationships, who have been raped or religiously can't take birth control who will suffer if these nine judges continue eroding who gets to make their own reproductive decisions and who doesn't.
If the Bush daughters get pregnant while not being married you can bet they'd be getting abortions in a heartbeat. Who knows if one or the other hasn't already, which thankfully in this country is still legal.

1. As I have said many times before, |

MONEY talks, even for the middle class, as my Aunt was in 1945. It is the poor and the young who will suffer.

"Who knows if one or the other (Bush twin) hasn't already (had an abortion), which thankfully in this country is still legal."
Good God, the last thing this country needs right now is another generation of Bushes!
Those of us of a certain age (I among them) remember when abortion wasn't legal. We also remember how girls in high school who came from well-off families always managed to get one. It was an open secret that if you had the financial means, you could ALWAYS find a doctor who was willing to 'perform a medical procedure' that would help you out of your difficulties.

|
did and will. Those who can't will either self-abort by any number of horrible means or have one more unwanted child to suffer a life of poverty.

4. Rich mothers and daughters frequently took sudden "vacations" |
|
to Europe during the 'fifties, and we will return to that. I grew up in a town with two boys orphaned by a botched amateur abortion. When abortion finally, at long last, became legal I thought of those boys and wished they could have had their mother back during their childhood.
Women take safe abortions for granted now. I wish somebody would make a horror film about how bad it really was. Girls "had to get married" and boys had to abandon college plans. It was dreadful.
The people who are responsible for keeping Plan-B from being available OTC should just fry in hell, as far as I'm concerned.

some pretty sexist things then.
Have any good lines about African-Americans or the disabled.
Maybe those would be even funnier.

15. I have a better plan ... |
|
"The people who are responsible for keeping Plan-B from being available OTC should just fry in hell ..."
I have always contended that people who want to make abortion (or 'morning after' contraception) illegal should have their names put on an 'Instant Adoption' list. When your name comes up, you will be notified to expect a child to arrive at your home within the next nine months, and you WILL be immediately responsible for that infant's financial upkeep, including taking it into your family and raising it as your own.
Of course, the immediate response of someone whose name came up would be: "But I can't afford a child right now," or, "I didn't want another child," or (my personal favourite), "The child you're forcing me to raise will be severely handicapped, and will require constant care, financially and emotionally."
And MY response to those people would be: "You wanted to force ANOTHER WOMAN to raise a child in the same circumstances you've just described. Now it's your turn to put your money, your lifestyle, and everything else you hold dear where YOU'RE FUCKING MOUTH IS."
End. Of. Discussion.

17. Catholic Girls School in the 60s |
|
Definitely Middle Class. I knew a number of girls who "disappeared" for a semester. They went on "vacations" to Europe. This was NYC too. The tuition was not cheap at this school. They then came back to resume their studies as if nothing had happened.
In the case of my Aunt back in the 40s, she was a middle class, middle aged (grandmother), married, and had a home she could mortgage to come up with the "payment" for a therapeutic abortion. Yes, Fundies, married, faithful, Christian wives have abortions, too.
Those precisely who they are "targeting" to bring unwanted babies into this world, will be exactly the ones who STILL will be able to get an abortion, albeit, at great expense and inconvenience.
Read between the lines of that one. We all KNOW who precisely they are targeting with this.

In 2002 a woman was talking who was an ex-girlfriend of Bush's before he met Laura and he got her pregnant so Poppy Bush arranged it for her to have an abortion when it's illegal in Texas and was back than and she didn't want the abortion but they made her. After she started talking she was found dead in her home.

13. I have to imagine abortion isn't a foreign word to the Bush family |
|
young attractive daughters who drink and allegedly do drugs hanging with a fast crowd of men, leading to all sorts of decisions about reproductive health.
You have to believe that they are smart enough to use birth control and hopefully smart enough to have their partners use condoms.

26. How many conservatives do you think are "rich"? |
|
The majority of them are in the same financial boat as the rest of us, they just don't realize what's causing it.
It's safe to say rich people regardless of political affiliation will be able to get what they need and the rest of us will not.
