1. started last night a pile of debris made for quite a photo

2. It was described as
burning hurricane debris... But I suspect that in a couple of days we'll hear that some of the "damaged, but not officially slated to be bulldozed" properties were involved.

4. Of course we will
I think they probably restored gas service knowing full well that ruptured lines were just waiting for some fool to toss a cig butt into some debris. This wouldn't be the first case of incendiary slum clearance.

The "right sort of people" sure as hell don't want all those poor folks moving back in. They'll be kept on higher ground about an hour outside the city, safely away so that tourits won't be afraid of the crime rate but close enough to commute into the city to clean up after "the right sort of people" every day.

Aint that how it always goes?

5. I've read 500 feet of damage to acres. Anyway, it's
it's a rip for CNN to call this breaking news. Surprise!

Huge debris fire hits flood-devastated New Orleans section

NEW ORLEANS Firefighters in New Orleans say a fire burning in a 100-foot-high pile of hurricane debris in the city's Lower Ninth Ward is under control.
Firefighters learned of the fire late last night, and say that the blaze covered an area of about 400-by-500 feet.

No injuries are reported. That area of the city remains largely uninhabited because of the amount of damage caused by Hurricane Katrina.

The pile includes wood, furniture, water heaters, stoves and refrigerators.

Firefighters say they plan to let the fire burn itself out.

10. CNN said filled with Regrigerators, Stoves, appliances and debris from
all the NO's flooded homes...meaning that it probably contained carpeting and "pressure treated lumber" (which Govt. regulations used to say should NEVER BE BURNED because of the toxic chemicals used) and foam from furniture and fire retardant treated upholstery and bedding and god know what else...maybe corpses of those they didn't want to count and pesticides from gardens and cockroach control...and paints and old chemicals stored in basements...and on and on and on.

Wolfie said to the reporter to be careful because it was quite a plume of smoke and the reporter said twice...We've been told by EPA that these fumes are not hazardous...and Wolf I'm standing away from the wind blowing and EPA said that the fumes will NOT be blowing over habitated areas so according to EPA there won't be a problem with this." :eyes:

I guess it's blowing over Georgia and Northern Florida about now...that SAFE PLUME OF CHEMICALS!
