Who knew we would get a true-to-life Elmer Gantry flim-flam man...?
for President? Who knew he would be so effective with his cornpone ignorance and his professed belief in the Saviour Jesus Christ? Who knew that his bullshit would sell so well to the masses? Who knew he could lead us into an unnecessary war, spend us into debt by the trillions, give away our country to the wealthy, and drive us into a ditch, yet still brag about what a good driver he is and how lucky we all are to have such a strong and competent leader? The only thing strong about him is his smell as he smirks and struts between the thin line of insanity and bullshit.

1. He won't last 3 more years
He can't hack 3 more years. He can't hack anything but the vote.

2. It is not the first or last. Take a look at the Middle East. plus
you will find people go for a man like this all over. Sort of sucks people in. 'I am a man of God and I will save you.' Sure would make life easy if you thought that way. One does not have to take blame for anything. Don't you think most of your ancestors believed that? It is like they have for got that we had a thing called the enlightenment and age of reason.

3. Who Knew? Well ..... Anyone Who Was Paying Any Attention At All
There was no mystery as to who and what George W. Bush was and what he would be. Anyone who bothered to take so much as 15 minutes to find out anything factual about him - before he was even nominated in '99 - could see plain as day that; 1st, he would be nominated because the fix was in, and 2nd; he was as worthless as dog shit.

4. The only thing encouraging in this resemblance is that...
... Elmer Gantry fell from grace. And Bush, like Gantry, definitely has feet of clay. My firm hope (as a correction to the current madness in this country) is that Bush, like Gantry, shows his most ardent supporters who he truly is--all by himself.

8. Elmer Gantry never fell from grace. In the book he lost some lovers, but
this never slowed him down. If you mean lost his grace with God, he never had any. Great book, with too much truth for most. In the movie it was pretty similar.

9. At the very end of the book, he rises in triumph from his greatest
disgrace -- and the congregation buys it! (Spoiler: sorry!)

I swear that Rove uses that book for his planning strategy.

6. If you were paying attention you would know.
gwbu$h in both runs for Texas governor and for both runs for president...er commander in chief, he ran as a moderate, from the center. Immediately after being elected, he swung w-a-y-f-a-r-r-i-g-h-t. Forgot every campaign promise he made. His very first day in office he started dismantling the government by executive order. However, until 9/11 all they could do was lay some groundwork and cherry pick at Clinton's gains.

11. When Dubya was first proffered as the Republican nominee, I laughed.
I loathed him from the first time I saw him speak (he was actually a bit more articulate back then, oddly), and he mispronounced
'nuclear'. I took to referring to him as The Winged Monkey',as in the Wizard of Oz. Then in 2000 my scorn turned to sorrow and outrage....been that way ever since. However, not even MY fertile little imagination could have imagined the horror he has wrought.
