If we drop a bomb on a target and innocent people are also killed, they are called collateral damage.
What are they called when the intended target is missed?
I really don't think they hate us for our freedom.

3. Yes, They do hate us for one of our freedoms... |

That'd be the freedom we exercise in dropping those bombs. The freedom we assume when we occupy their country (be it for good or ill or both). The freedom we take for granted to make those decisions over their lives and deaths. You know, the freedom with which we decide what freedoms they can have. Sure, though, when considering the phrase as intended, you're right; regarding how they feel about the fact we seem to think we're "free", in the rare instance they even bother to consider it, other than the extent to which it contributes to our presence in their country and effects on their lives, they couldn't care less.
As for what they're called when the target is missed: "Them" might fit sometimes. The ordinance missed it's mark and hit "Them". We accidentally killed a bunch of "Them", so we have to go in and bury "Them". For some reason, the local population seems to become very angry when we blow "Them" up. :nuke:
Bush: Angry? Why would they be angry? Can't they see we're doing this for their own good? They're just a bunch of ingrates.
