My letter to Norm Coleman |
|
He's my senator, at least until Al Franken beats him in 2008. Here's what I wrote:
"I'm disappointed that you've already decided to support Alito's confirmation - did you know that the hearings, designed to give citizens an opportunity to consider a nominee's worthiness, have only just ended?
I am concerned about Alito's ability to rule on cases involving powers of the executive branch in an unbiased manner. Given the number of challenges that Bush is facing regarding illegal spying, it's likely that such issues will end up before the Court in the next few years, it is more important than ever that justices can be counted upon to understand the limited powers granted to the presidency.
If you insist on supporting Alito, I shall not be supporting you in 2008."

1. You would have supported him otherwise? |
|
Tsk, tsk. You should do some reading over in the Minnesota forum. We've discussed Norm in great detail. Plus you would find out about a DU meetup tonight. Maybe you could make it. We'd love to have you join us.

2. No - I've never voted for a repub in 33 years |
|
but why tell him that? Let him think he's losing a vote he would otherwise have received. Thanks for the welcome though!
