Free Republic Movie Reviewer on NPR - Bye NPR
Edited on Sat Jan-14-06 10:15 AM by bluerum
Goodbye NPR.

Its been nice knowing ye.

But its been a long road since I listened to your first broadcasts in Buffalo NY when I was in college. The ideals of those who started you have long since been abandoned. Your halls are now inhabited by the larval spawn of the corporate yuppies and gen x,y and z'ers.

Have a nice ride.

on edit: sp.

1. You mean the reviewer is "like" a FReep or he's a real FReep?
Sounds interesting so far, but inquiring minds want to know more . . .

2. Gotta link?
I ask because, sometimes you see a URL that says freep-something, and it goes to the Detroit Free-Press, not that other site.

8. Morgenstern wasn't much anyway
I listen to KCRW in Los Angeles and except for Elvis Mitchell, who is great, there isn't much in the form of movie reviews to pay attention to.

Look for this Bush bashing film in March of 2006. 2001 Maniacs trailer

Robert Englund plays a cannabilistic southern redneck named Mayor George W., and the townsfolk kill kids, African Americans, gays and Blue Staters as part of a yearly festival.

The film is huge in Europe and non existant here because Lions Gate is afraid of it.

Tell a friend.

9. It was NEW Republic: LINK
Edited on Sat Jan-14-06 10:18 AM by meganmonkey
NOT free republic.

Weekend Edition - Saturday, January 14, 2006 · Sheilah Kast talks to New Republic magazine's online film critic Christopher Orr about the decline of real romance in movies. Romantic comedies, once a Hollywood staple, are in particular decline.

13. That clears that up
It's not surprising that we cringe at the word 'Republic' these days, though. The Cabal is giving it a whole other meaning - and it's not a good one.

11. It was New Republic.
This is silly. Freepers don't get on NPR doing movie reviews, geez.

There are plenty of valid criticisms of NPR but this isn't it

23. That is an equal puzzle
Why a political magazine movie reviewer in the political turmoil of NPR? Sounds like it could be just as insidious. NPR did some great things with real interviews with people on the ground in a National GEO sort of way and other features AAR might do well to milk while ditching the pasteurizing machine. I never listen to it anymore.

And can AAR ever get its own newscast? I am so sick of our local "lefty" radio network spewing out the CNN crap every hour. The jolting contrast is no longer needed.
